  1. A Thousand Times Worse ... on Where Should Company Loyalty End? · · Score: 1

I've been in this situation doing volunteer work, and I tell you, it's a thousand times worse when you actually care about the *clients*, but can't get past stupid agency that's supposed to be serving them. When its time to start doing prozac or quit the job, quit the job. If you're really that valuable to the company, negotiate with the management over how to run the company. If they won't change, you can't overcome that. If they offer you a raise if you'll just "shut up and work", bail. If they reform enough to have some prospects of success, you can pursue a labor of love if it seems worthwhile. Otherwise it's not going to be worthwhile.

Maybe this is just a cheap quip, but it seems like the "Documentation" should server as the 'Framework' For Quality Assurance.

Commenting the source code just explains how s/w *should* work -- the documentation should explain how it does(n't:-) work.

Currently, marketing seems to write the specs and documentation, then programmers write the code, then QA verifies that the program works according to the documentation. Put off the documentation until QA -- have them write it.

Alpha testing would be the coders, Beta testing would be the QA and documentation effort. Then release it for Gamma testing to get the bugs out of the documentation!!!

I do low level tech support, and I agree completely. Leave Windows for the dummies -- we don't have to kill MicroSoft to survive ourselves, and trying to deal with the most abject newbies is more trouble than it's worth.

Do we really need to write drivers for $50 "WinModems" or $200 "WinPrinters"? Some things just aren't worth doing.
