  1. Re:Insurance Woes (slightly OT) on UK Allows Insurers To Use Genetic Test Results · · Score: 1

I have lived in both MA and NJ and have had a car since I was 20.

even with tickets I have never had insurance that hight, and thats with collision and theft coverage. on a toyota corola (old) and a new VW Passat.

my insurance on the Passat comes close as a 24 year old (not yet eligable for the 25 year old break) and with a $250 deductable on collision (the starndard is $500). I still pay $900 less than he does.

the main problem is the fact that he has to carry much higher insurance because the car is a lease, you often have to take a lower deductable and much higher levels of coverage, costing a considerable amount more.

kind of rough isnt it. but thats the price you pay for leasing. especialy if its a new $25,000 car especialy if it is high performace.

I hate leases myself, I could be paying less for less coverage if I wanted to, but in a lease you dont get that option because the dealer is taking the risk.

the only thing diffrent between this and a wireless PDA is that bandwith seemed to be higher and there was no DNS system, he had to remember the number (ie IP addresses) for the various newspapers.

while I do like virtual desktops, there are certain things that I realy like multiple monitors for. for instance, debuging GUI code, I can have my debugger on one screen and the actual app runing on the other, this has come in handy many times as I can step through code an watch the changes take place.

also for apps which have many palettes, you can put them all on one screen while having your actual work on another...

it does tend to come in handy, still I wouldnt mind having virtual desktop support as well.

Im pretty sure that the last Developer Preview supported multiple monitors. I would expect that the Beta will as well, however, from the sound of it you will need your second video card to be an ATI card and nothing else.

This is the same as in MacOSX DP4 so its not that surprising.

I took the drug every day, and I could easily tell when I had forgoten it.... everything was diferent. overtime however, I leared to concentrate on my own, having had the drug to help me initialy allowed me to adapt... I could learn get by and even excell with out the drug... In college I used Dexidrine much less and now I never take it at all.

basicaly, over time I was able to train myself to concentrate, overcoming the ADD, this is very much like what these researchers are trying to do but they are developing treatments for younger kids, by giving them incentive to do it. Seems like a pretty good idea to me.

    true and not.

I also took (and still take) dexidrine although I have needed it less as I have grow older (I honestly cant remeber the last time I took any).

I have found that it has fewer side effects than ritalin and is by far a superior treatment if it works for you (as I understand it, it wont work for all people). I do, however, know people who use it for a buzz. so its not realy a solution to that problem.

However, one of the reasons that many parents try to get there kids diagnosed is for extra time on tests (including the SAT's). Personaly I find this reprehensible(sp?) as it takes away from the attention that should be given to kids with this problem
