Sounds like they have so little money from the awfully made products that they have to squeeze every last drop they can into their accounts before filing for chapter 11.
this thing can monitor all your habits, which is much more of a privacy issue than people thought. it's one thing if they look at your email, but would you want to have the fbi wondering what you're doing visiting the "free kevin mitnick" websites? And if the thing has internal zip and jaz drives as stated in the document, the fbi can just walk in and switch the stuff without having to even open up their little black box and stop monitoring. Next time i go isp shopping i have a few more things to add to my list of "good things".
As the article points out, the SDMI contest has no real meaning, other than fame and dough for them. Nothing that can be decrypted can't be cracked. It may be hard, but there is always a way. I especially liked the little point that watermarked files can still be duplicated. It's just like the ID3 tag "copyrighted". A pirate is not very likely to care about the FBI warning on the first part of a copied video tape. Of course, this still doesnt protect the average consumer with the intelligence of a potato, who believes what the company tells them, and goes out to buy all the software for this "copy proof signature". Technology: friend or foe?
Several programs, such as tld lookups, dont consider strings longer than 3 chars to be valid TLD's. Of course, it's possible to port them, but it's annoying as hell.
Legos will own the world! Now the matrix and monty python, tomorrow america, and then, THE WORLD!! Seriously, those things are more addictive than caffeine (i should know, my blood/caffeine levels are throught the roof)

May scour rest in peace. The capitialists just chalked up a kill. Odds are more will follow before they get shut down, if they ever do. Free file sharing is at stake here, and the freedom side doesnt have the backing to do anything about it at the moment.
Looks like rambus is trying to play chicken with the justice system. I wonder who'll veer off first (looks like the judge just locked his wheel in place).
I took the time to grab mozilla from the cvs tree, and spent almost an hour compiling the code (du -hs revealed 218megs of it after./configure and half of make), but it runs very nicely now. Premade binaries do tend to be slower and more crash prone, so if possible, compile stuff yourself. It's annoying, but it works =) (unlike the rest of my system)
Well, in netscapes own FAQ, they mention a release that was considered netscape 5, and used as the base code for netscape 6. They admitted that netscape 6 was a clone of 5 with a few changes. Go into help>about mozilla, and you can find the EXACT SAME release name. Coincidence? I think not.
Oh yes, i just, err, cracked your system to "test security". oops, im sorry, did i just download your whole payroll dbase and source code to your programs? i'll be sure to delete it right away...
Legos and star wars, a classic toy combined with a classic story. There should be other combinations like that, i.e. the U.S. Government and intelligence, and the politician and the bar of angry voters.

A little quote from "red heat" that i especially liked:
Arnold: We solved crime in russia by taking all drug lords into an alley and shooting them in the head.
Cop: Sounds good, but the politicians would never go for it.
Arnold: We shot them first...
Let me get this straight. They are restricting the allowed use of parodies being distributed on the net? Sorry, but i dont plan to pay M$ for my copy of Microshaft Winblows 98 from parroty software. It's like buying membership to a club that makes fun of lawyers all day. (although THAT would be a club worth buying into)

Well, to quote one of those programs: Top Level Domain arpa does not exist.

didnt pre3 just come out? Last i heard, it was still crashing regularly, especially on linux 2.4. Maybe netscape hired a few M$ QA guys.
I think thinkgeek already has a mock up map available in poster format of the entire internet. Probably not as accurate though.

Maybe they can make my glasses zoom in on things now. I've always wanted to just look at something and see its molecular makeup =)
Maybe it'll be firable to have an account on icq. Or you'll be arrested for paying for prodigy.
Please tell me its not true... Oh well, maybe they'll release a WORKING copy of aim this time.
Maybe in the next 6 months i'll be able to order PCS service through my discman.
Can someone say buffer overflows?
