Jack Thomson is my hero, he is saving my kids from my irresponsible parenting.
Please Jack come to my house and prevent me playing GTA4 with my kids upstairs in bed. The sound from my xbox through my amplifier could disturb them and their natural curiosity could compel them to come down to see such horror on my TV screen.
Oh no, you mean they have features that people want? Damn them, file a lawsuit immediately and have this ridiculous practice of adding features to their software stopped.
I currently work integrating Lotus Notes with various Microsoft products, its not that hard. Yes some translation is required, but then they are two completely disparate systems, that would be expected.
Maybe my experience of Firefox 2 is atypical, but I don't think its numbers are correct. In my experience of using IE7, Firefox 2 and Firefox 3. Firefox 2 uses MORE memory than IE7 at times, while Firefox 3 uses between a quarter and a third of the memory of Firefox 2.
I have now switched exclusively to Firefox 3 on my windows machine, while using 2 on my linux machine. Firefox 3 IMO is the best browser for resources.
That said however, I don't find it particularly fast, its slower than I remember Firefox 1 (I don't have it to compare, but from memory it was fast), but a little faster than Firefox 2.
I nominate this guy for a Darwin Award (or second it if someone has already).
Sure he didn't deserve to die, and I feel for the family of the guy killed. However I agree with your analogy, he didn't think through the whole pissing off a tiger idea. My cats, about a 10th or less of the size of a tiger can jump almost half that hight should the need arise, I would expect a tiger to be able to make a similar feat.
The Zoo is equally is also to blame, should the guy have not taunted it, it would obviously still have been possible to jump that.
I have done a similar thing, they are surprisingly resilient. However in the battle between hammer and harddrive, the stamina of the hammer eventually wins out.
My reasons were the hard drive for some reason made my PC unstable, so I took a few months frustrations out on it. After that day my PC worked fine.
I hope no aircraft fly around here in the mountains, AT&T signal sucks around where i live. AT&T (well cingular) built the towers in the valleys rather than on the mountains, so not sure if they would work.
Its great if you live in the valleys, you get awesome signal, but if you live at higher elevations it sucks (like my town on a plateau above the tower).
Perhaps they gave it to a savant who could compile, unit test and run code that he read on paper in his head. I think that would be an awesome way to test.
I wouldn't call ANT obscure, it is quite popular and it can be very useful. But i agree it does read like an Ad.
I feel bad for the bug, but perhaps its an Ad for more stringent testing. People are very quick to blame the GC, but without seeing the code, I wouldn't be as quick. There are reasons you call the GC manually, thats why you have access to it.
Only problem with these rock solid products is none of them are available where I live, none of the companies which have taken them to court offer landline service in my area. Only one telephone provider exists in our area and they refuse to take us on as customers... Also none of them offer me free calls to europe so that I can speak to my family.
Vonage is a good service, their service has gone a little downhill recently, possibly due to the court action and them changing things to try and get around it. Yes there are other VOIP products but none of them 'just work' like Vonage.
If Verizon is so damn good, i want them to offer me the same service in my area which Vonage currently does.
I call Energy, anyone existing or otherwise after the big bang is infringing on my copyright...
But since i am not like those folks at Verizon, AT&T or sprint, I give you all permission to use my copyright without any fees, as long as you give credit to me.
But in order to know that a message has been delivered to a pager, it must send something back, pagers receive messages when they are switched back on after a period of being switched off (or at least mine have in the past). I can't believe a pager system would be constantly sending out the same message hoping the pager receives it.
Doctors also use cell phones in hospitals too... I know they don't own special non-interfering cell phones.
You are obviously one of those people who reads a manual when you get a piece of electrical equipment? Its a phone you shouldn't need one to use it, and mac users are always bitching that their stuff doesn't need a manual either
The first time you switch it off, a notice should come on the screen explaining that it does not stop transmitting and receiving data, would you like to ignore this message next time?
Digital phones don't interfere with hospital equipment, how do you think doctors pagers work, the force?
The policy was introduced way back when they had analogue phones, because they may have done (not too sure, but thats what i heard), but they keep it because phones are just annoying. I have used my phone in an ICU with the permission of consultants and nurses without a problem, the operating theatre was next door.
I am pretty sure the same applies for aircraft too, but you can't normally get signal at 30k feet anyway so why bother, and you might miss annoucements if you are on the phone during takeoff and landing.
I agree Viacom used the original clip under fair use, but posting a video of their derivative work is infringing on their copyright. Viacom was maybe a little rude, but as it stands a judge would side with them
Just post the original clip on youtube, if they want you to take that down, then you can argue that in court.
If you took it to court, as it stands i doubt you would win anything worth the cost of taking them to court. Just post your original, or beg RIAA to diversify and take your copyright case on, maybe they would go after everyone who watched it on TV for you.
Why would you equate penetration to masturbation? One is a poor alternative when you can't get the other.
Surely it would be better to equate it to testing lubricant or contraception or something like that?
I have, but i never signed it.
But from what I have heard, enforcing things like that even if they are in your contract are difficult. Its like non-compete clauses.
I have helped run a programming class for 11-12 year olds, using visual basic.
The language will be an unpopular choice here, due to its origin (and I have to admit, I don't like it myself).
But its simple, and easy for young children to use.

Commander in Chief Lord High Lead Senior Principle Engineer, should be the highest non-managerial position.

Perhaps i should do an ask slashdot for a review of windows vista in the comments...
I bet there will be a bad review then.
How can something be less than zero mass? Would mean that the space craft would have less than zero matter.
Zero matter would be nothing there, less than zero matter would be?

This is why i should never post on slashdot... Someone is bound to read it.

Yes it was, tried it again and firefox didn't freeze.
I agree download firefox.
Umm... This crashed my Firefox too... may have just been a one off though.
"Three of the galaxies are about the size of the Milky Way, while the fourth is three times as large."
but this then is 1+1+1+3=10 still not quite right... Perhaps the extra 4 is their margin of error to cover themselves should something weird happen.
