I think the only thing that SI finds in it's favour is that most of the measurements have some funky relation. As a novice physist I remember something between the relation of a meter and 1 second when it came to pendulum motion.
Anyway, I see there are several sets one can buy... there are some specialised sets which force you to build specific models etc, but I had the 1000 set... with many more pieces... and I can never remember having trouble building my own designs...
I remember my first Meccano set... I lost a lot of little bits, and the rest rusted or broke.
The problem with LEGO is that it's overpriced for bits of inert plastic, but otherwise it's cool, but not *that* cool.
Capsela on the other had was cheap (at the time), and it was motorised. It also did not rust, and NEVER broke.
I wish I could buy some again, but have not seen it in local stores for some time now...
You can e-mail me directly if you are serious about taking this thread further. I'd love to... the extent of your derogatory frame-bait must be humilating on an open forum.
So far I just adore our discussions.
Domini(e) is a synonym for clergyman, which symbolises humility and understanding.... but of course, you knew that too.
My surname is Van Wyk, and I'm from French/Dutch decent.
Nazis come from Austria/Germany.
I don't know much about Nazis etc, but my girlfriend tells me it was quite rough.
(She is a Christian Jew)
Just a bit of info: The English invented concentration camps to kill thousands of innocent women and children in South Africa when they fought the Afrikaners. (This was long before apartheid) The Nazis just followed the example.
My great-grandmother was in one. She survived.
And of course America was formed by the criminal element leaving England. Hmmm...
But don't take my word for it... I'm sure you have much reference material. You seem to need it.
The truth is sometimes more interesting than flame-bait.
My computer is powered by Microsoft... which is pretty much the same thing. (It being an American invention and all...)
You clearly seem intelligent, judging from your writing style, and since I cannot belive that anyone intelligent would actually say those things, I'm asuming you are having fun (although not quite at my expense). It would be cool if you could ask me real questions and make acusations that *are* applicable.
:)
I'm not going to check replies to this post anymore, but will reply to mail.
hehe... got you to reply! Just checking if you are following this thread.
whee....
Anyway... South Africa never had slaves. That's America you are thinking of. (once again)
We (used to) do the oppression thing.
Now it's only reversed discrimination.
I also got discriminated against by my fellow white South Africans for having black friends, and teaching Computer Science in the townships for no pay.
And if that ain't enough, there are people like you perpetuating hate and discrimination, hiding behind your veil of anonimity.
I was aware of the Mac version 5.0, but I cannot find any reference to Unix, HP-UX or Solaris versions, and besides, those are not for home users. (I have seen references to HP versions of IE 4, but when I try and get a download, the windows site returns a blank)
I use Beos, Linux, Epoc and Win32... which points to Opera.
I've seen some Unix references, but the links point nowhere.
Have you never read Microsoft's license agreement?
-gasp-
Besides, I still need it for some work, and will use it on my 98 Box.
:)
I too know what computing is about, but unfortunately that died with the Amiga.
What computing is about is that feeling of security, and not that sinking feeling that I have had so often when I lose data on Microsoft products. I long for the days, when years ago, I had Linux on my machine...
I've recently switched to Opera, and although it may not be free (yes, I did pay for it), it certainly has given me more pleasure than Netscape or Mozilla has so far.
Mozilla is far too expensive in wasted time... (which in my opinion is worth more than the money I paid for Opera...)
One crash a week is too much, and validates the money I pay for a stable browser.
IE 5.5 is stable and free as well, but it then locks me to Win32, which sucks.
In my opinion: (score out of 10)
Stability:
IE 5.5 9
Opera 5.1 8
Netscape 6 6
Mozilla (pre-release) 6 (We'll see about Moz 1.0)
Cost:
Mozilla 10
Netscape6 9 (takes away some choice)
IE 5.5 8 (takes away some choice)
Opera 7 (pay for something that's free?)
Portability:
Mozilla 10
Netscape6 10
Opera 8 ( It works on Epoc too!:) )
IE 5.5 3
People silent-speaking:
DivX is bad freedom.
not the same, sure, but based upon.
How many inches in a foot etc. (is not decimal-based.)
Hope this helps.
Admittedly that is a useful trait.
I think the only thing that SI finds in it's favour is that most of the measurements have some funky relation. As a novice physist I remember something between the relation of a meter and 1 second when it came to pendulum motion.
Alas my memory is clouded in my old age.
;)
America ever hear of the decimal system?
SI units and whatnot...
Feet are things attached to legs (last I checked)
Can anyone convert the velocities to civilised modern measurements? Say meters? and kilometers per hour?
Next you will have them measuring speed in furlongs per forthnight!
-wink-
They should NOT work on food and education, but rather on Democracy, and the first thing one should do is excercise one's right to blow money....
hehe.
Check out BOA at SourceForge as an alternative RAD GUI IDE development environment for visual appications.
It's got much of Delphi's feel, but is based on Python, and has a good interface going to things like Zope.
I think it may be a good free alternative to Kylix.
I have looked...
I cannot find it many places... I bet it is fetching huge amounts on e-bay though...
PS: Some companies do still seem to be selling it.
I Got it about 1980-1981 as well...
:)
Us oldies...
Anyway, I see there are several sets one can buy... there are some specialised sets which force you to build specific models etc, but I had the 1000 set... with many more pieces... and I can never remember having trouble building my own designs...
Depends on the set, I guess.
;)
Check out: Capsela
.. at least for kids.

That is what I also thought. (I only did basic relativity at University... and that was some time ago...)
But check this out, and please comment on it:

Nothing with mass, however.
They are able to transfer information faster than the speed of light aparently.
About 300 times as fast at the moment through cecium vapour. (Aparently it has a negative refraction index...)
Also, what about non-clocked machines (massively paralel logic machines) such as the one NASA just bought.
The limits are a bit near-sighted, methinks.
D.

There was this incident a few years ago, I don't know if you recall... so you must be refering to the oppresive ANC government at the moment...
Anyhow, you are wrong, it's called:
"Discrimination is Cool"
And by the looks of it the USA reigns supreme in this regard. (affirmed by your post?)
'Nuff said.
Here's some more:
Total Eclipse,
Pi,
Ladyhawke..
:)
We are having a 70% eclipse here in South Africa,
and my friends and I are planning a party!
Any good ideas for movies?
I have these already:
Mermaids,
Last temptation of Christ,
Little Shop of Horrors (A clear winner?)
hehe...
Ah... sometimes I forget that I live in a third world country.
-sigh-

But in space, no one can hear them scream...
hehe...
I'm finally going to convert my standard general purpose machine (Desktop PC) to Linux or BSD...
(From win2k)
I'm not interested in XP.
GM should have fuckfuckgeneralmotors.com pointing to fuckgeneralmotors.com...
:)
It's quite a lot slower than normal glquake... even in a low-res mode.
Wonder why so much slower.
How is this different from normal Quake "fov" command set to max?
-ponder-
zDoom adds looking up and down (Duke-Style) as well as jumping...
:)
Get it here: http://zdoom.notgod.com/
I've tried the -left and -right features ages ago... it works quite well besides for the slight lag.
