Touchscreen in a car is STUPID. Any function that you would want to perform whilst driving should have a physical actuator that you can activate without looking at it. I have been putting computers in my car for a long time, and this is a pretty hard and fast rule. I dont even do voice control because it gets distracting when the computer doesnt understand me.
What joke? Siri is as useless today as she was launch day. I have tried very hard to like siri, but having to go out to the internet for everything kills it. Until they start doing LOCAL voice recognition, siri is mostly useless. The only function i can get her to do with any reliability is set a timer.
Hell, open just the back windows in my car at 40 MPH+ and a pulsing shockwave forms in the interior. I have to open the fronts slightly or the pressure waves become unbearable.
The point of my pointing out his extremism is that we need someone who thinks beyond the practical, otherwise we are stuck with only what is, not what could be.
WE NEED an extremist like RMS. I agree that he is out there, but his extremism provides weight to our side of the scale, even if you and I personally find it distasteful. Take him with a grain of salt and you will realize that he has good ideas, turned up to 11.
Are you 12 years old? Music is a personal choice, and just leave it at that. While its true that certain tempos can affect us, saying 'house-trance-mix-40000 is the best music for hypno-programming' is retarded.
ugh 'going cloud',really? There is nothing inherently wrong with off-site storage/processing. I run my own cloud, using Free and Open Source software/hardware.
Why is there no fool proof way to disable power management in Ubuntu? To be specific, i want the screen to stay on 24/7, why is there no built in way to do this?
Wouldnt it be great if everyone was you? My experience greatly diverges form yours. Motherboards are flaky and die easily, CPUs are rock solid. Their durability alone makes it unwise to meld them across the board.
And I take the taco bell approach, i keep remixing my machines as parts wear out. The only set in stone machine in my house is the mac mini, and i purchased it specifically so i would have a machine i wasnt tempted to tinker with (this is the second mini, the first one i killed within a week trying ot hack in an esata port.)
I disagree. Motherboards are far more likely to die then a CPU. I have had CPUs go through 3 motherboard changes (Q6600). It is one of the few very rock solid parts in the computer.
It is NOT illegal to refuse an unlawful order. The police have some discretion, but they are HIGHLY constrained to the types of orders they can give, and have to provide reasonable justification, albeit later.
Guilt or innocence are LEGAL terms only. You cannot declare someone guilty or innocent without a legal framework becasue the terms are relative and extremely perspective bound.

The era of mobile devices lasting 2 years is almost over. I expect my Nexus 7 to be a useful PADD for at least a decade.

Agree 100% Touchscreen has no place in a moving car. Wire up a joystick or some other kind of control that you can feel.
Bicycles go faster then 10 kph. You parameters just eliminated a sizable chunk of useful data.

Something tells me its a mix of the two or at least one was used as an excuse for the other.
Allegedly.

You would be wrong in saying 'obviously it doesnt matter for a fileserver'.

Reductio ad absurdum
Does that apply to regualr people too? If i start a campaign to clear someone of charges, at exactly how many people do i become 'media'

So the sanctity of life rests on COST??????? Fuck you.
