THe hosting fee was paid at the time of original purchase. If only one person can connect per copy, then Sony has lost nothing. Every copy of the game purchased should include costs for running a server for that COPY OF THE GAME. It should not matter if another human is using it. That is the the only logical path here and lays bare the true intention of this move: To continually print money from nothing by establishing taxes on games.
This is it exactly. THe ONLY thing my PS3 does that other devices really dont is Blu-ray, and I own a whole 2 BR discs. When I bought it, i expected it to be the one device to rule them all. Bash Xbox all you want, their platform is a hell of a lot more media saavy then Ps3. MCE alone puts it head and shoulders above PS3.
Your argument completely ignores the reality of human nature, where others can and DO influence others to do evil for them. As much as we like to think that every human is an independent free thinking individual, very few are. The rest are highly susceptible to properly couched suggestions. To ignore this fact is to ignore a basic fact of human existence.
Generally, when new graphics engines are being pushed out, as they are this fall, you are going to see lots of driver revisions to tweak the performance. For the record i did love my PS3 at one time, but then they just stopped trying. After Uncharted 3 I'm selling my 60 GB full back-compat.

Atari blustered about pursuing Playstation 'dumping' charges before the PS1 price was announced and then was never heard from again. They basically said if Sony comes in too low, we'll sue/pay a congresscritter to open an inquiry etc. Nothing ever became of it beyond an idle threat.
Just like Battle.net, Xbox LIVE, Office 365, netflix (which uses AWS btw), etc etc so on and so forth. There are plenty of services out now with single points of failure.
I get ESPN3 on my Xbox without having a TV package at all. But like someone said below the streaming libraries on the ISP site generally require you ot have TV flagged on your account.
You should stop talking about things you dont understand. A 'server' in this context is really a cluster of machines lashed together in a cohesive system. A server system is most certainly not static and inflexible and 'off peak' absolutely exists. The big move now is 'elasticity' where your server cluster will expand and contract with more machines and power as your needs scale dynamically.

You failed to mention that CLONED drives have AF problems, regardless of OS. Also the last WD AF drive I bought not only was not marked anywhere on the box, but the alignment tool hadnt been authorized for download for my model yet. I had to call WD and get it escalated before they got around to authorizing the tool for my model #. I bought the damn thing at BestBuy, I could not have been the first person in the entire retail channel to need that tool...

Windows 8 tablets are going to be $399 at the absolute minimum to start with, probably more.

You cant make a tablet that matches the Touchpad in specs and sell it for $199 and still make a profit.
Im concerned that the final tier is going to be hitting the PTR before the next expac is even announced. How long is 4.3 going to be????

Hate Advanced Format drives. Ship the fucking thing like a stock drive and ill align to 4k if i need it.
