*sigh* Part of being human is realizing we are not all built the same. We all have differing views on how the world works.
I find little to no value PERSONALLY in competition, i far prefer co-op. Sadly the vast majority of 'team' activities engage in competition instead of co-op challenges. It is no great accomplishment to be better then another human at something.
This is the sweet and sour of apple. I despise the walled garden, but i LOVE seeing a badass pocket computer for $199 and the possibilities that it opens up. DO you love them for their ubiquity or hate them for the closed nature of it?
Do you not understand that corporate philanthropy is a tax dodge or marketing expenditure, NOTHING MORE. Its not done to be nice, but to enhance the bottom line. Anything else and you have shareholders suing you.
Yes, otherwise why would you choose that profession? Either you are a bloodthirsty killer or a fool. If you sign up to become a soldier, you MUST come to terms with the fact that you may be forced to kill another human whether you want to or not. A person who would put themselves in that position is by definition a killer.
The problem is, open source is still intellectual property that has been licensed. Perhaps WIPO should rename itself to "we only care about IP that can be monetized"
I merely pointed out that it is not free and that the cost has been socialized. I made no commentary on the right or wrongness of this approach. I just wanted to make it clear that its not 'free', nothing more.
Go into the bank, sit down with someone who isnt jsut a teller and explain the situation. They will accept your payment without a fee just to get you out of there.
Developing an idea does not mean you can claim whole ownership of it. You OWE for what our forebears wrought. All inventions draw on millions of years of human existence and progress. Intellectual Property laws draw a line in the sand, only perspective dictates if that line provides net good or ill. As it stands now, from my perspective, if you stripped away all IP protections, people would still invent shit.
The 696 freeway is hilarious for the morning commute, a solid WALL of cars moving at 80 MPH. The cops couldnt pull someone even if they wanted to. Troy is nice, i live in CA now and Irvine reminds me alot of Troy, Mi.
I was surprised at how many cameras are on a modern public transit bus. Of course, being the geek i am I started wondering about their method rather then the Big Brother aspect of it. Do they record on the bus and transmit out, can they go live or is it time shift only? etc etc.
A game disc is not Intellectual Property in this sense. It is actual real property that also acts as proof of license. While i dont love Gamestop, no one FORCES people to sell their stuff to them. There are plenty of other places that buy used games.

Then if high finance is such a societal need, socialize the process and eliminate the profit from shifting money around.
Even if what you say is true, its a trivial mater to start a corporation and hire yourself.
I dont see how you have the right ot tell another human when his right to his opinions begins and ends.

Being forced onto a team does not teach you to be human.
Yet athletes get away with it all the time......
But there are other, equally contemptible limitations to the boy scouts....
Just like Wii isnt 'direct' competition for the 360 or PS3, but there is a HUGE overlap.

It equates to SOME lost sales, but also generates buzz. Its not zero-sum.

Its interesting that the example you use was a company forcefully dismantled by a court of law. Good choice.

If by free you mean paid for by every single citizen, sick or not, then yes its 'free'

Samsung is a fabrication TITAN. Please stop talking about that which you know nothing.

This is straight logic diarrhea, stop thinking for yourself
