It's about time! I've been waiting years for someone to figure out what to do with all these damn politicians. They ought to win the Nobel Prize for this!
I just had a professor who essentially let us choose when to get assignments done. Poor guy ended up working the day before and after Christmas to get his grades in because of all the assignments handed in at the last last minute. If I could self-impose deadlines I wouldn't be a procrastinator.
I don't know about this "saving" any children. With all the problems that keep popping up on the BBC about bullying and child delinquents I think that its far more likely to be used on children than adults. After all we can't have children building any tree houses!
If Bush wants to regain some popularity he should consider nuking some of the spammers.
We can't rely on Bush to go after the spammers since they don't have any oil. We have to take it upon ourselves to show that advertisements for "male enhancements" and low interest rate loans support terrorists and encourages child porn. If we do well enough we may even be able to send the spammers to Pakistan for "interrogation". After this it will still be necessary to for all of our e-mail to be read by Homeland Security, but this will be a small price to pay for a 5% reduction in spam.
For the love of money. That's why people will buy it. It costs less than Microsoft Office and it's not the "evil unknown" of open source. Plus M$ can't use the "closed source is more secure" argument against them.
"It's unclear what effects the Uranium-bearing ores might have had on those few lucky children who received the set"
I don't know what the bid deal deal is with some people. I got to play with some Uranium ore and other radioactive elements a few weeks ago in Chemistry. It was fun!
The difference between MS/Linux and Intel/AMD is that you can only run Windows programs on Windows (for the most part) whereas you can run the same things on Intel and AMD processors. It's easy to switch from Intel to AMD. It's not so easy to switch away from Windows. That's why MS doesn't have to worry much about innovation. They only need it for marketing.
AMD is smaller obviously, so it has fewer resources...but with those Alpha scientists, they're going to keep going strongly. It's just a matter of time with business directives like this before AMD takes over. They've been having some really cool ideas...and a few more over a few years, the innovators may win. And no, I'm not an AMD fanboi, but I have talked to some architects from IBM and Intel, and they do concur.
Doesn't that assume that Intel doesn't change their strategy? It seems to me that Intel has adopted a strategy that is designed more for marketing than for innovation. This seems to have worked VERY well for them, but it doesn't mean that they couldn't change their strategy in the future.
It's interesting to note that whenever AMD pulls ahead in terms of processor performance Intel catches up and vise versa AMD catches up to Intel.
As for whether or not AMD will beat Intel, I favor Intel's marketing strategy not because it's what I would buy but because it's what will be easier to sell to the masses and that's where the lion's share of the money is.

Water in a toilet does the same thing; it gets fastest just before it goes down the drain.
I should know I do the same thing.

If things keep going like this they'll end up patenting peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!

The shooter or the one who told them to do it?
