I agree that the kid shouldn't have been arrested, but did anyone read the essay? I can't believe that thing got 100%. Any grade 7 should be able to write better than that. It really makes me worry about schools today.
I seriously doubt it would be as good an operating system if it weren't open source. Open source was what allowed it to develop so well. I seriously doubt you'd be using it if it were simply what Linus could have made on his own.
What I meant was, you do a lot of work documenting, and attempting to decipher the complex code of Mozilla, and you end up with a book. Think of how much they would have paid someone if they had hired someone to do this work.
I wouldn't doubt that other companies that sell computer packages (such as Compaq) aren't doing as well as they used too either. It seems to me that as the general public becomes more and more computer literate, they are starting to have their computers cutom made by smaller computer stores. Which is the cheaper and better way to go. Even people who know nothing about computers often have a friend who can help them with this. I wouldn't doubt these larger companies begin to offer more customizable packages in the future, just to compete.

Hmmm.... definition of irony.

I sure hope that they will have a good technique to deal with fraud. It would not be hard to forge someones electronic signature.
I'm sorry, I stand corrected. (Although I was hardly flaming).

Sounds like they're fooling people into doing some drudge work for them. Damn corporate trickery!
