Yeah. Not many farmers can afford silver pitchforks and the ones that do exist are only for show. The tines would be too soft for actual work. Silver plate might work but it's best to use pure.

Thinking we live in a democracy is a common mistake. We do not live in a democracy and neither do the americans. (i'm canadian, btw.) We live in republics. We elect a set of representatives and send them off to make decisions for us. After their elections they have no particular reason to come back to the people who elected them until they need re-electing at which time they'll make a new set of promises that they hope will get them re-elected so they can go off and excercise the control we've given them for another term. Try keeping track of how they've kept their promises some day. When we reach a point where we can really poll the people on a daily basis regarding new legislation or decisions about spending money or going to war then we'll have a democracy but for now, it ain't a democracy.

Wait. We're missing something here. His thumb has been marked because he's been touched by a foundation headed by Bill Gates? Could this be the Mark of the Beast. Sorry, I couldn't resist. :-)

But, when the server room floods for whatever reason (and I've seen server rooms built below water table in some places) how do you explain to the boss that the drain was capped rather than allow the water to drain?

Beautiful. This was a great use for what would otherwise have been waste heat.

  6. Re:Of course it's for money on Wal-Mart Is Pushing Compact Fluorescent Bulbs · · Score: 1

I saw an interview with a Walmart Exec about the idea of selling CFL bulbs cheaply and thier position is that they do make a little more from the bulb at the initial sale than the incandescent buld but, further, as the savings begin to show up in the consumer's power bill they'll be able to sell more things to people that aren't paying as much to the power company. Walmart has all these things figured to a nicety. Any way to save the consumer money on a thing not being sold at Walmart means there is more money for the consumer to spend at Walmart. And, let's face it, there are always going to be customers for Walmart.
