Actually, bandwidth is itself the measure, (or system of measurement) as are volume, weight, mass, etc.
the common unit of measurement for bandwidth is of course bits per second.
When someone says "I don't want to download Jon Katz stories because I don't want to waste the bandwidth", it is similar to saying "don't put that can on the shelf, it can't support the weight."
Really nothing wrong with using bandwidth in this sense.
Username/password falls down to almost any brute force cracker (L0phtcrack etc.) Two factor security whether it's username/password + boimetrics, client certificates, proximity cards, or whatnot, should almost be considered a patient's right.
Am I the only one who's having flashbacks to that anti-drug commercial from the 80s?
Just for the record, it wasn't an anti-drug ad. It was an anti-leaving-your-dog-in-the-car ad. The ad went:
Announcer: "Hot enough to fry an egg?" (view of egg frying on a car hood) Announcer: "Hot enough to fry a dog's brain..." (view of sad-faced dog with tongue hanging out) Announcer: "[stern admonition about leaving the dog in the car]"

Pretty disturbing, really. Poor little dog.
