I'm actually running the latest install of GAIM (windows) and these two bots were still automagically added. I think its a gross invasion of privacy, personally. I don't go into $AOLExecs address book and add myself, so he shouldn't be messing with my buddy list.
Hopefully, future releases of GAIM will block these annyoing attempts. But I don't fault the software for AOL's spamming.
The one thing you're not taking into account with all this is the number of people ONLINE. Sure, the overall amount of people online downloading music has surpassed the numbers napster brought probably 100 fold, if not 1000 fold. But don't make that number seem larger than it is, from a relative perspective.
