I had always assumed "News for Nerds" implied the site was aimed was aimed at that particular subsection of the eorld population who like to refer to themselves thusly, a subculture that crosses over international borders. It's not "News for American Nerds" after all.
Then again, I can only assume this point has been made by far too many peeved non-American Slashdot readers already. Perhaps it should be a poll, "Should Slashdot be labelled an American Site or an International Site?" ({Yes,No,Coyboyneal knows no countries."})
The conflict in the north of Ireland is not one based on religion at all. The fact that one side of the conflict is predominantly catholic and those on the other predominantly protestant is because of historical reasons. It was not, nor ever had been, a fued based on religious reasons. Granted, some religious bigotry does enter into it at times but this is not the source of the conflict.
Then again, it *is* true that 'religion' has often been used as the basis for violence and discrimination. One particulary poignant example would be the Crusades during medeival times in Europe. These crusades are still seen as a reason for militancy among some Islamic extremists today.
I think aseembly programmers who write lines of codes that consist merely of things like: mov ax, bx etc... would have the distinct advantage of looking cooler in this pole because what would take a C programmer one line could take an assembly programmer 10, 20, even 30 lines
and some programmers are sloppier than others is one working harder if he writes 100 lines of code when somebody else can do the job in 50?
there's got to be a better way of judging efficiency
having said that: I have no idea what this could be

How about the Total Recall series? (Total Recall 2070 I believe it was called)
It had a very 'Blade Runner'-esque feel to it and in my opinion had good potential.
I watched it avidly for one season and then eagerly awaited it's return for the second season. A second season was never made.
*sigh*
