Great answer. Of course this doctor, like all others, is probably being invited to very fancy dinners courtesy of Pharma cos with the only requirement being that they listen to a 15 minute presentation on their latest "research". After that, free food and drink!
I know many docs decline these invitations, but when you'e a poorly paid med student the prospect of a great dinner is hard to pass. So they might go and try to avoid getting swayed by the sales pitch. But it probably affects them on some level.
The Space Shuttle doesn't use all of it's fuel, as it needs to come in under power...
The space shuttle glides all the way in. It does not come in under power. The only propellant it burns on its way in is for the deorbit burn.
Note that the cost of the propellants is a very small portion of the overall launch costs, and therefore having to carry extra fuel is not a big factor in the economics. In fact, it makes sense: you are already carrying the engines, all you need is some extra fuel, and guidance.
I mean, who reading this now has done all their dishes, their work for the day, called their grand-parents to thank them for their Christmas gift, paid all their bills, sent that inquiry to the insurance company, called in for that dentist appointment that is 3 months overdue, etc... I mean who?
