As a consultant I've been around numerous corporate offices. At each of them I've noticed that half the people working there speak terrible english, and much of the work is offshored. Why is this? If I had to guess, I wouldn't say its because these people do a better job. Most likely they its because they do the work cheaper. Maybe we haven't lost jobs, but I'd say there's a good chance we've lost money.
- How much privacy are you giving up? The law has never protected privacy in public, nor should it.
The world is getting to be a much smaller place. The privacy I'm allotted in my tiny apartment isn't a whole lot. I understand that you shouldn't expect any privacy in public, but consider this. What if every time you set foot outside, a thousand pictures are taken of you. Everything you say is recorded. It wouldn't bother you if any accidental stupid quote, gesture, or mistake you make was posted in front of millions? I'm sure you break at least one stupid law everyday.
Basically, if I want privacy, I have to sit alone in the dark with my shades shut.
The world is public enough without the government's help.
I'd also like to see some data for separate industries. Most of us work in IT, where our bosses hopefully, have had a lot of training. Many people out there work for restaurants, factories, etc, where training may not be as extensive.
For example, at every restaurant job I've ever worked, I've had at least one horrible boss. Harassmant, violations of safety, etc., were a lot more common in under these guys.
At my IT job, I get overworked, and have non-existant promotions dangled in front of me, but I don't think I ever see any harrassment, or vulgar behavior.
I'm willing to bet some industries are much worse than others.
The MPAA is constantly whining, wasting millions of dollars, and annoying all of us over 5 percent?
I made the mistake of buying a DVD recently and had to sit through that annoying anti piracy clip. You know...
"You wouldn't steal a car would you? You wouldn't steal a purse..."
Yeah, because stealing a car, and copying a DVD are even remotely the same. Its frustrating and insulting that every time I watch my PURCHASED DVD, this stupid thing will come up. I don't like being accused of stealing, before watching my movies. Ironically, if I'd have just pirated the movie, I wouldn't be seeing that clip, as well as other annoying previews.
Maybe they should concentrate on making good movies to win over new customers, instead of insulting remaining customers.
