I've been reading slashdot for a long time. Probably since the days when I had to recompile a kernel to watch a DVD or burn a CD on "desktop ready" Linux. Everytime the Microsoft/Linux/Mac argument comes up I reread this paper prepared by Rob Pike and I die a little inside:
