Everybody else - Get a fucking clue. Take an economics course. Learn about rational behavior. Learn why what you are saying simply is propaganda. And for christ sake - quit using watered down terms like "Slave Labor" and "Exploiting" The word exploit is so watered down thanks to you people.
France's argument is absurd - "French people can just access the same auctions from www.yahoo.com".
A) French can get to the same questionable items from another website.
B) Even if Yahoo can "filter" french users from "bad" auctions, viewers can still use a US based proxy to get to the same content.
The only way to stop people from viewing objectionable content is to install client based filtering software on every user's computer.
If Yahoo were to loose this case, I would imagine the quick blacklisting of french IP addresses on the part of Yahoo. Imagine the uproar that would create.
I can attest to this, living in Seattle. I Just got back from the protests downtown about 1hr ago.
There was a *huge* march. There are many people blocking the intersections downtown. Lots of broken glass, spray painted anarchy symbols, etc.
Yes the police did use tear gas to clear a corridor for the conference attendies to make their way to our convention center. This I saw (and breathed) with my own eyes. They also have used their rubber bullet guns.
I did not see what lead up to the use of the gas though. Some people say they did it for "no reason, they just got trigger happy". Whatever, I don't know.
Regardless of the CNN or whoever says, It's pretty peacefull down here. It's just a bit crowded, thats all
All an all, it's pretty crazy here today in Downtown Seattle, I used 1 1/2 rolls of film, and hope to take more pics and put them up on the net within a few days.
Err... Seattle buses are some of the nicest, cleanest buses I've ever been on. Most other cities buses don't even have padded seats!
Yup. This gentleman pretty much sums up my opinion of most /.ers. A bunch of fools living in a pipe dream.
It's about time somebody here has some sense!
