All the more reason to use a Federated Identity Provider like OpenId, and authenticate against servers in another more favourable jurisdiction. Still doesn't stop sites won't handing over your data, but at least your password is safe!
Does anyone know what the predicted lifetime of the 576 bit key was?
I mean, when they say that we should be using 4096bit keys today, how long do they predict that it will take to crack that key? (taking into account Moores law and perhaps linear growth over time of the number of clients contributing CPU cycles). Is it possible to guestimate?
All this parallel CPU processing is very well and good - but why don't these challenges become team (on the human side) challenges?
I understand that this is about the human mind vs computer algorithms/power, but surely there is an argument that most great human advances were made by teams of humans...
Just wondering how long this process will take - I mean, it's June now, surely the rendering will need to be done by September? How long does it take to edit a 3 hour movie and get it out by christmas?
I'd say the rig they had was enough, but they fluffed up on the timing and need to get this stuff done in a _real_ hurry.
"The first two weeks of development were fairly uneventful, with the NT team using Microsoft Word to create the original design documentation...Finally, it was time to start writing some code."
If the sub is travelling at the speed of sound, how do they use their sonar equipment? Surely the cavitation alone would be that noisy that the sonar would be ineffective?
"Computer games don't affect kids. I mean if Pacman affected our
generation as kids, we'd all run around in a darkened room munching
pills and listening to repetitive music."
don't forget that the percentage of people who are actually gonna mess with this stuff is very tiny. You should concentrate on making your services better for the huge majority of your users who don't run Linux
This goes against what linux is trying to achieve: to bring it to the masses and make it a viable option for the desktop.
The days when linux was an unknown ant, crawling around the feet of the giant MS are coming to an end... These guys have to view linux as a viable revenue stream

I've always thought that more people would quit smoking, if cigarettes were pink...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this doesn't actually can spam... all it does is stop the embedded links _within_ the spam from getting googleized...
Seems to me the only real way to kill the spam is to have a captcha system which most blog engines are starting to move to anyway...

Maybe that OneRing.net April fools joke wasn't...
I have to agree - its got to the point where I question _anyones_ use of EJBs - that last 5% is far too specialized.
I've started using Castor which aint quite JDO, but very close and a damn site easier than EJBs...
Does anyone else design an OS in two weeks?
