  1. Re:Looking forward to the collapse of Facebook on Facebook's New Terms of Service · · Score: 1

Bingo. I've been delighted to discover "whatever happened to..." about a half dozen people I'd wondered about for years. One or two I may even want to reconnect more closely with. But all these people from my high school trying to friend me just on that basis (and mixing in with my current friends)? Nope. Thanks.

Actually the commercials recorded fine (on my Sony DVR/VCR combo). Audio for AG too. Of course, I deleted the files completely unwatched after finding that out, so the net outcome is a wash for them: I saw neither the show nor the ads.

  3. Think Toughbook, but be smart on Best Laptop for Going Around the World? · · Score: 2, Informative

Look for one of the older W line business toughbooks (W2 or W4). They ain't cheap, but Toughbooks aren't. There's an optical drive if you're bound and determined to use it, and an integrated SD slot if you want to save postage getting the back ups home. Alternately, have you considered a TRG Pro? It's a Palm III equivalent with a CF slot. Takes AAA batteries and there's a mini keyboard available for when you can sit down (screen keyboard when you can't). It won't do color or pictures, but you can enter text to your heart's content and save and ship backups easily. I wouldn't recommend playing volleyball with one, but I've found it to be very dependable and sturdy over the years.

You're reading the wrong ones. Personally, I laugh at Sherman's Lagoon fairly frequently. Baby Blues is generally at least amusing. Lio isn't completely consitent yet, but he's getting his rhythm. And you have to have a heart made of stone not to laugh aloud reading Mary Worth.

"Tries to spend" imples he attempts to pass it off as US currency. He doesn't. He claims it's worth the value he put on it and attempts to spend it as such.

  6. I love my W2 on Panasonic ToughBook Testing Facility Tour · · Score: 1

Slick as snot. Refurbished. Under 3 pounds. Intergrated CD/DVD (under the trackpad). Battery lasts forever (okay, a couple of hours, but it's still so far better than anything else I've ever used). The HD did die on me at one point (but held up long enough to get a backup off). THAT hurt to replace (at the US service center), but damn it, it worked and they were great to deal with. I wouldn't want to try to do gameplay on it, but as a portable desktop replacement, it's great.

That's why I've passed up purchasing new albums from artists I've enjoyed for years. If there's a copy warning on it, I can't plug it into the devices I use to listen to my music. Thanks, but I've got no interest in adapting my listening habits to fit what the RIAA wants me to use. There's plenty of good stuff out there.
