I took a look at the Japanese site, but didn't find anything about banning exports. However, as the site is dedicated to Sony's Japanese customers, you wouldn't expect much in the way of international marketing information. One interesting thing -- Sony's on-line shopping site has a rather long letter to their Okyaku-sama (honored customers) apologizing for the "irregular access" to the site. Apparently their site is being swamped by too many people trying to access it -- real customers, not DoS. The night before the PS2 went on sale, I was in Yokohama having a few beers. As I was going home, I noticed a lot of (mostly young) people camped around electronic stores waiting to buy the beast. The temperatures got close to freezing that night -- these are REALLY SERIOUS GAMERS.
