  1. Re:The wise customer on Amazon Adjusts Prices After Sales Error · · Score: 2, Interesting

...the advertised price was buy one get one free. Even though the checkout stated $0.00, it can be argued that the customer agreed to pay for one of those boxed sets.

Yes, the customers indeed agreed to pay for one of the boxed sets...priced at $0.00.

  3. Compete? on EMI May Sell Entire Collection as DRM-less MP3s · · Score: 1

Selling MP3 competes with only the iTunes Music Store. That would take some revenue from Apple, but they would continue doing just fine selling iPods. In fact, I bet a lot of folks would stick with iTMS anyway because it's easier to keep coordinated. Songs you buy through Apple are automatically added to your song library. The average consumer might not be up to the task of importing MP3s from some other service into their iTunes library.

  4. Screening on Breakdown Forces New Look At Mars Mission Sexuality · · Score: 1

Stress screening (not physical, but situational or emotional) might help. After all, this was not a case of normal behavior. Understandable, but not normal. There had to be signs of her possessive tendency. I'm no expert on the space program, but I think it shows a lopsidedness of the training.

  5. In the numbers on Study Finds Bank of America SiteKey is Flawed · · Score: 1

Even if a phishing site displayed only one of the actual available images, they would net victims using that image. It only takes one in a million to make the scam worthwhile.

Bank of America's system also has you provide a caption when you choose a picture. The caption is much better security than the limited set of images.

  6. Re:Can't the same be said about the stockmarket? on Financial Analyst Calls Second Life a Pyramid Scheme · · Score: 1

Doesn't the stock market need a healthy supply of gambling fools? The kind of people who buy or sell based on snippits in the morning news are the only reason the market moves. They're the ones that provide opportunities for the rest of us to buy undervalued shares, right?
