Let me see if I understand.
If a bomb does go off - people will scream "Why didn't you prevent this! Look at the senseless loss of life! Our police are useless".
If the police use existing cameras to OBSERVE you; you become paranoid and delusional about police spying on you. Let's have just a wee bit of common sense. If the police were 1% as competent as you are giving them credit for; every murder would be solved, no mugger would walk the streets and all traffic fines would be collected. Car theft wouldn't exist, neither would rape, burlary or purse snatchers.
Best case - police solve more crimes.
Wost case - police watch you and I live our BORING lives.
You are just not that important; no one cares what you do. Break some laws, well; then things are a wee bit different then.
It's one thing to grant equal rights - I think few would dispute that. I have no issue with same-sex couples having the same legal protection shared by normal people (yes, I do mean normal). Being gay is abnormal, that's why they are less than 10% of the population; they are outside the 'norm'.
However, the purpose of "Marriage" is to create a family unit for creating and raising a family. Gay couples are incapable of reproduction, the primary reason for the institution of 'marriage'. Now, if they want to call this institution by another name, that's fine. But, like "Republic" and "Democracy"; "Marriage" is a word with a specific meaning. No religion on earth recognizes "Marriage" as anything other than a relationship between a man and a woman. Animals are not included either, so I guess those means Republicans are not only picking on homosexuals, they are picking on the bestiality crowd too.
Don't look to me to defend some of the things the Republican party is doing. There are very few Republicans that know what their base is demanding.
We don't live in a Democracy, and we never have. If you knew what a 'Democracy' actually was; I think you'd be horrified. Think "Mob Rule". Want to make women sex slaves? Let's vote. Want Men to have zero rights, and work until they die to support females? Let's vote.
We live in a 'Consitutional Republic'; that is what our founding fathers created. This is the underlying reason why Republicans are called Republicans - because they support the Republic form of government, and Democrats support 'democracy'. Bear in mind, Republicans supported freeing the slaves, pushed desegregation, formed the ACLU, allowed women to vote; and were fought on each item by Democrats. Democrats supported slavery, democrats blocked schools to prevent desegregation efforts, and have opposed equal rights - yet now claim to have invented the idea.
Honor has nothing to do with this.
You go to a store, they make you a deal. Based upon the price, and how badly you want the object of your desire; you decide whether to pay or not. You do not get the option to barter, you pay, you get a receipt and you leave.
Does the Grocery store have the option of saying "Hmmmm, we could have gotten 50 cents more for that gallon of milk", then have a right to take 50 cents off of your debit card? No.
Why, because the price you paid is the condition of the sale, rebates, shipping and handling included. If Amazon realizes a mistake, they have until the product ships to determine the nature of their mistake and correct it. At that time, the buyer (who has not yet been charged) has the option to agree to the higher price, or decline the offer.
To tell a customer "Take time off of work, re-package what we sold you, drive it to a postal center and ship it back to us; or we will charge you an arbitrary amount to your card - is extortion."
Why?
Because, "would you have purchased the goods if the full price were disclosed?"
This appears, to me, to be a direct competitor to Hollywood/Blockbuster. So, if I can 'rent' a DVD for less than $5; why would I saturate my broadband connection for 2 days and wind up paying more?
Consider, Dishnetwork has pay-per-view movies for ~$5, I can purchase the DVD (hard drive crash insurance)for $15 at Wal-Mart. So, the download must compete against physical information (purchase) as well as temporary physical (rental); weighed against inconvenience (download time).
Now, if these companies want to have their own 'unique' format; that only their software can decode, I'm all right with that. However, if they insist on installing spyware on my machine; they are sorely mistaken.
Paddlocks do not keep thieves honest; they keep 'honest' people honest. The pirates who mass-produce the movies will continue to do so; until the penalty outweighs the risk/profit. Threatening the public at large only creates resentment such as what the RIAA is currently enjoying.
If they can't download rentals for less than $5 (I'm thinking $3.99 as there is NO physical media, no advertizing costs assocaited, no labor involved and the distribution network is already in place); they need to re-visit their model.
Sometimes a job is the short-term solution. You may dislike it; but think of it as a training ground for the job you want. Pick up the skills, demonstrate your project managment capabilities, impress your boss.... then take your show on the road.
Can you name ONE major player in any company that got promoted up through the ranks to become CEO? Companies hire outsiders, because most are too stupid to realize the diamonds among the rabble in their own organizations.
So, keep your job, build your resume' (for that follows you through your entire career), and keep working with the thought that your NEXT job will be your dream job. And when you get your Dream Job, keep looking.
Nothing is permanent, you are replaceable, and loyalty from the company standpoint is as long as the next negative news release.

Do some research, look, learn. You may be amazed.

go to the Apple website. Click to go to the store. On the left hand side, about half-way down will be the 'Special Deals' section.
This section will have refurbs and 2nds at a steep discount. I got my 30 GB iPod for $269USD approximately 3 months ago.
Check back frequently, products and storage size availabilty changes daily.
