My Hp 11c got me through Marine engineering, Mechanical engineering and Electrical engineering. Its taken a lot of abuse, been to the ends of the earth (inluding antarctica) and is still my primary tool for quick field calcs.
you can get em on ebay for a reasonable price and if you are stubborn enough you can write some pretty nifty little programs for them.
