  1. Re:Real time Linux could win the house. on Linus Pooh-Pooh's Real-Time Patch · · Score: 1

Since this work is hard real-time related I don't see how that effects most appliances or energy controls. Hard RT usual consists of short deterministic interrupt, timer response. Most appliances or energy control systems can wait seconds before switching. Hard real time systems are usually control systems that require response times of less than 500 usecs, like avionics control, motor control, industrial control, etc.

Many of these systems no longer require hard RT due to algorithms being implemented in FPGA hardware. Cheap motor control still need some deterministic response to to update the PID calculations.

It seems that both parties are pretty lawyer'ed up. The last election showed that you need to geed the judge vote as well, so the campaigns are doing the necessary GOTjV activity.

Small buttons, too small of an enter key. Not the same quality as a real HP calculator. Sellers of HP32SII (sub-$40 new) are now getting over $200 on ebay.

Why would Blockbuster be involved? Just give the CD's away, they're cheap. I'll bet you'll see Sony get you to give them you're Visa number, and you'll pay for each play or for some length of time (like urghh Circuit City's DVIX). Any way there would be no middle men and only Sony and the game developer would rake it in. Sony's aim is to maximize return on software and getting the rental fees that the Video Rental stores are getting could be a decent revenue stream.
