Simple. Have one of the questions be: "Is a member of the mafia standing behind you." Of course, since if a member of the mafia is standing behind them, they will be forced to reply "No", make sure that the answer is switched.
This is a classic example of a site trying to be "secure" through obscurity. The correct response would not be issuing a take down notice, thus publicizing the issue. An intelligent response would be to move the service to a secure site that required credentials.
What exactly is MobiTV trying to claim is their IP? The URL? I didn't think such short addresses were copyrightable. I don't think they realize how the internet works. If I type in a URL in a browser, I'm sending a request for data back. It's up to mobitv what to return. If they don't want us to have access to the data, don't return it. Simple.
Sorry to be pedantic, but this being the start of it's 4th year of competition, it would now be three years old. After all it was not one year old during the first year of competition, was it? Computer geeks should know better than committing such an obvious off-by-one error.
The input has a constant size, and the computation is bound by some constant time. If you want to be technical like that, your current computer is a finite state machine (it doesn't even support true Turing algorithms as these in the general case require an infinite tape). Any input/output to computations is bounded by the size of your cache, memory and disk space. You could try and say that net access grants more storage, but this is still technically a) finite and b) bound by low seek times.
The first generation of computers had low storage / computation space. They grew as engineering progressed. It's the same deal with quantum computers. Five to seven qbits today may turn into 32, 64.. and larger. A quantum computer with "only" 512 qbits could be solving a problem that would normally require 2^512 = 10^154 work (which is more atoms in the universe) is amazing.
I didn't realize anyone was forcing you to buy it. If you don't like it, don't pay up. You vote for how corporations are run with your dollars, and as long as you keep shelling over, they'll keep pounding you up the arse as deep as they can.
No, what's really funny is that you think your greater being cares about capitalization. You must be unaware of the multitude of languages that do not use casing in their grammars. Either that, or you think anyone not speaking a Romanized language is a heathen.
I know this is Slashdot, so the majority of users have not had sex. But if you think this article is implying that means you're smart.. you have just committed a common logical fallacy. Sorry to burst your bubble.
you even said why it is a big deal yourself in the last sentence
why do a bunch of innocent men deserve a sad lonely miserable existence without a wife, simply for the sake of a barbaric and pointless belief?
Sad, miserable existence without a wife? I think you've got that confused, good sir.
It's not evil... It's Comcastic!
