  1. Stolen Code... or Free'd Code? on How to Deal With Stolen Code? · · Score: 1

The whole issue of locking down code has never sat well with me. It stifles progress and encourages a constant re-invention of the wheel. If you are able to write code that is worthy of use by other programmers, kudos! And in that same token, you should be able to continue to write new and better code, instead of locking it down and sitting on your laurels. The whole point of the internet IMO is the free sharing of information and ideas. Unfortunately and in some aspects of convenience, commercialism has infiltrated the internet to a large degree. We need to stop thinking we need to hoard our code like a treasure heap, and realize the incredible wealth attained by sharing knowledge. Krap! Politicians seem to understand this notion also, you scratch my wealthy ass, I'll scratch yours Dog. my lil'nickle

  2. Do what you love... on Is Computer Programming a Good Job for Retirees? · · Score: 1

If you have a passion, follow it. You will find others with your passion, and with their help find a way to continue with your passion. It does not hurt to just show up someplace that has an interest for you, offer them your services, probably as 'part-time' since you are retired you are very flexible with pay and hours.

As an employer, I do prized a good skill set, although, I must say skill set is nothing if a person has no passion to work.

Ha! I used to drop off resumés at various biz's untill I found a place with an 'atmosphere' that I liked. I would then get the phone number of the person who's job it was to hire, and make it a point to phone them back asking, "What time do I start work tomorrow?"

As a retiree the ball is in your court, you have the upperhand, because you have something employers want. Passion. Just remember that.

    I ... agree...

To much negativety in these boards... Be nice to see some more logical, creative, and/or informed ideas,
instead of the caffeine edged trolling that happens on these boards...

It's a good news piece though, I agree that Apple does need to keep working on security issues.

I am glad to see that there are independant users of Mac OSX that are finding security holes and bringing them to our attention.
This brings strength to any community, fueled of course by contructive communication.

    cheers!

  4. It's the TROLLs fault... on Vista - iPod Killer? · · Score: 1

for even making this an issue...

I'll never understand what it is about Apple zealots and MicroSoft freeks, always arguing over who's 'hammer' is better.

This is a TROLL test friends.

I don't care what tool you people use, as long as you enjoy it, are creative/productive, and add to the construct in some tiny way to world of computing.

As far as iTunes and Vista goes, it'll get fixed if it has not already. And anyone has rock for brains if they really think first versions of ANY kind of software will not have the odd bug in them.

    There is no conspiracy here.
