I was wondering why a guy on a tricycle was going around my living room and then taking a dump and then took off. Must be the google houseview or google johnview project in progress.
Having data on two servers is replication not backup. Backup is when you put all the data on a couple of tapes and put those tapes in separates vans which take them to be locked up in a disaster proof facility hundreds of miles away from each other.
Don't care about owning it. I write a message and click send to send an email. I really don't want to own, patch that emailing software as long as I can write a message and click send to send that email.
Slow down and cut the crap out.
Cut off from computer/internet/tv/gadgets on weekends. Just coffee and newspaper/magazine on the porch does it for me.
If all the technological efficiencies do not give me more time to relax and enjoy life then they are not worth it.
As stated by other commenters,
Previous employers are only asked for two things: 1) Length of employment
2) Title when leaving(sure about this) or titles when employed(not sure about this)
and that subjective reference is taken from people whom you give as references. These are your friends from your current company. Make sure you at least have one friend before leaving.
Even I had a similar experience with their WebSphere Application Server. 3.5 was like a kia(not that I have used one) and 5.0 was a lexus(not that I have driven that, I drive a Honda). Left me wondering how the same company could produce crappy software and then a well designed, documented, easy to use software.
My guess is that WebSphere 3.5 was just stitched together using multiple software from different teams, the get to market quickly strategy and 5.0 was built ground up using a very good team of programmers, build a good quality software strategy.
I would buy the book if someone would care to write a story about WebSphere 3.5 to 5.0.
