  1. Now His Wife Will Get Prison Time Too on Spam King Escapes From Federal Prison · · Score: 1

His wife was probably a more than willing accomplice for all of his scams anyway so when they do catch them she'll do a few years too for aiding and abetting a fugitive. And if she claims that she didn't go willingly then he's up for a count of kidnapping besides. Either way it's a win win as long as they catch him!

  2. Re:Heck with Vista, what about XP? on NVIDIA's Drivers Caused 28.8% Of Vista Crashes In 2007 · · Score: 1

I'm running an 8500 Nvidia card with all the latest drivers and Vista Service Pack 1. I still get get a NVidia caused crash from the Graphics driver every 3 days or so usually at night when the only thing it's doing is calculating Protein Folds (Distributed computing project) (with the graphics visualisation turned off!). I would think that with that many crashes Microsoft would off NVidia some of their driver gurus dirt cheap just to resolve the problems and keep the shitty drivers from further tarnishing Vistas already shitty reputation. But don't forget the more error checking you add inside a driver the slower the device works. My guess is that NVidia is sacrificing common sense error checking for better benchmark numbers. And they have so many generations of cards out there now that 99% of their resources are about getting their next one out the door and not fixing the shit they sold us last year. A class action suit may be the only way to wake them up!

  3. How many were installed as Spyware on Firefox Hits 400 Million Downloads · · Score: 1

I have had to uninstall it twice already because other packages I have download to try installed it automatically without even asking me. Each time I uninstalled I let them know that this is the worst kind of SPAM and damages their reputation severely!

  4. All Apple and AT&T have to do is... on iPhone Freed From AT&T, Twice · · Score: 1

Right now the reason this works is that Apple had the bright idea of making everyone initiate their service plan from home using the iTunes software. The phone still requires a two year AT&T service plan. So great you say just buy your iPhone, do the hack and don't activate with iTunes. All this does is require Apple and AT&T activate your service plan at the store, something they're not set up for just yet. But when they do even if you hack it to work with another carrier you're still paying AT&T for 2 years until your contract is up. Of course Apple may not mind selling more iPhones in countries where they don't have an exclusive contract with AT&T as long as they're not selling the actual iphone at a loss just to get the service contract kickback.

  5. Can Chip Run a VM machine running Windows XP on Sun Moves Into Commodity Silicon · · Score: 1

As fast as this chip is in Ghz, would it be possible to run a single threaded .Net application in a VM (Virtual Machine) on this chip and still have it perform faster than on the fastest Intel chip? Does Sun have a VM that will do this. I know about mono but there are many .Net applications that on API's not present in the mono environement. I know Ghz is no longer the end all/be all measure of computing performance especially when comparing CISC and RISC but would dearly like to know if there's anything like this that could leapfrog Intel by a few generations.
