No North American actor could pull of the part of the "Chairman". The overdramatization, the weird facial expressions, the zeal with which he bites that damn pepper... Who else but Shatner could fill those shoes? Who did you want to host it? Alex Trebec? (sp?) Dick Clark?
But seriously, I want to see an actual point-by-point calculation accounting for radiation pressure, gas leaks, and all that before I'll imagine something affecting our space probes that doesn't affect the planets.
What about all the photons (radio waves) we've been sending back and forth between the Earth and the probes, that's got to add up at least a tiny bit.
The problem is that we've been 10-20 years away from Mars. The problem is that 15 years from now, Goldin or his succesor will say "we could get to Mars in 10-20 years if we start working on it now".
At this rate, the first person on Mars' famous words will be, "it's too bad only the five of us could be saved before that comet smashed the Earth."
No but really, if you think that doesn't sound like a conspiracy, consider this one... Literally hundreds of musicians and authors have died at ages other than 27 and 49, how can that be anything other than meaningful?
You should read the Google help page. But here are some hints:
Google does not support parenthesis groupings, like you seem to mean you want "(dogs OR cats) AND (birds OR fish)". All searches are AND by default, so you can just go "dogs OR cats birds OR fish" to get the result. For "(dogs AND cats) OR (birds AND fish)", two searches is the easiest way.
If you want to search for a word like "the", put a plus-sign in front of it, "+the"
Google does not find "cheerleaders" when you search for "cheerleader", you have search for "naked cheerleader OR cheerleaders"
I'm not big on reading instructions either, but there are times when a moment's research pays big dividends.
As far as I know, Disney invented rotoscoping for use in their early features (Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty). They certainly used it extensively for such hard-to-animate things as dancing. I have a big old "behind the scenes" book which shows it being done for a really mundane scene from Cinderella though.Of course, the Bakshi concept of "rotoscoping" includes lots of scenes where they just printed high contrast black and white film and splashed random colors on it. Blech.
AS I recall, it has been mentioned occassionally, but the MPAA party line on this aspect is that it is within their rights to not allow Linux DVD players to be created, just as they are entitled to not release a movie in say, Afghanistan, if that is their wish.
I do not believe I stated that the founders of Pacifica were hippies. Its the current listening audience that's a bunch of PRO-government socialists. (They just don't like the current government of the USA, that doesn't make one anti-government.) More rules more laws less freedom.
I make no bones about the fact that most of my hatred of Pacifica stems from KPFA/B kicking the Maximum RockNRoll show off the air. Pacifica believes in all freedoms, except for the freedom of Thought.
In this case the laws are preventing the Progress of useful Arts, the Right to Writings and Discoveries is being stolen and abused by non-Authors, and the whole limited Times clause has become a laughing matter. The recording/movie industries get copyright extensions the way a 5-year old gets gumballs -- insert money, turn crank.
International News Service v. Associated Press, 248 US 215 (1918), was the first case to set forth the "hot news" theory of intellectual property. In that case, the Supreme Court stated that a newspaper publisher had a property right in time-sensitive information when the publisher had expended resources to collect the news.
All that this really proves is that the Supreme Court can shove its collective head up its ass just as thoroughly as the Legislative and Executive branches can.

They will be forced to disrupt certain experiments because of his presence. It's not safe for the visitor or the crew.
"Forced", bah. They're just being a bunch of whiney babies and trying to make it look like he's an inconvenience...
"Not safe" double-bah, what's he going to do, push the big red "Do not push this button ever" button? Open the airlock because he thinks it's a closet?
Nothing a corporation says or does really exists. If a RIAA lackey shot Professor Felton in the head, a spokesperson would have no qualms about standing up the next day and saying;
"The Secure Digital Music Initiative Foundation (SDMI) did not intend to kill Professor Felten. We loaded the gun because we felt an obligation to licensees who had submitted their valuable inventions. We pulled the trigger in an effort to reach consensus and and understanding with Professor Felton. As a founding member of the SDMI, we strongly believe in academic freedom and free speech, but unfortunately we were unable to reach an agreement with Professor Felton before the slug entered his cranium and fragmented, shredding his brain into useless jelly. We regret any unfortunate inconvenience to the Professor, but once again, never intended to kill or harm him in any way."
Indeed, sign-weilding protestors rarely evoke change. In another thread, Ghandi's name was dropped. What Ghandi did to effect change in India was to highlight the British abuses and "goad" them into committing even worse atrocities. Of course, since we're all just pussies here, we'll whine on Slashdot, but I doubt if we'll see anyone risking their life standing in front of a gun or going on a hunger strike.
So instead of just walking down the street with an earbug cellphone laughing and talking apparently to yourself as people are want to do these days, you could be stumbling around making inane "Johnny Mnemonic" gestures too? Tres, tres cool...
I know, I'm waiting for the story where Russian authorities trick the FBI agents into cracking fake "hacker" computers so that they can get info to hack the FBIs computers, gathering proof to indict the FBI agents.
And then the FBI will trick Russian authorities into hacking "FBI" computers...
damn, should have been "no OTHER north american actor"
No North American actor could pull of the part of the "Chairman". The overdramatization, the weird facial expressions, the zeal with which he bites that damn pepper... Who else but Shatner could fill those shoes? Who did you want to host it? Alex Trebec? (sp?) Dick Clark?
It's against Gracenote's terms of service to use both CDDB and FreeDB, I believe. Probably for exactly this reason.
How about a "lifestyle" pathogen that only kills people who work on genetic modification experiments?

4 rock stars died at 27
One rock star and one author died at 49
Coincidence?
No but really, if you think that doesn't sound like a conspiracy, consider this one... Literally hundreds of musicians and authors have died at ages other than 27 and 49, how can that be anything other than meaningful?

You have given Gracenote a gift. They are free to do whatever they want with it. You have zero grounds to sue.
That's something I can get behind.

I wasn't trying to be funny this is serious stuff.
