I did not know about that one, as many people may not. That's so wrong in so many ways.

  2. Re:Handing them a victory on Civil Liberties And The New Reality · · Score: 0

In order to let the terrorists of the world win, first you must stop your daily routine. This, some have already done. Also, you have to have let them scare the be-Jeebus out of you, this...some have already done. Now, not to say that I wasn't scared of what happened. I'm more scared as to the tactics of the World powers, and the US to be more precise.

We're talking about dropping bombs on other countries, which has never led us to be better than they are. One solution I may pose, however, is instead of droping mass amounts of explosives and the so-called "smart-bombs", why not develp an even better weapon. The technology is HERE. There IS no argument to that.

Now, instead of dropping the explosives, why not develop a weapon of even greater destruction. Greater destruction in terms of TECHNOLOGY. These criminals rely heavily on the technology they have to get the information and maintain the contacts they have. Developmnet of a weapon such as an EMP bomb would have greater impact on these terrorists than ANY type of explosive they could come across (or under as the times may have it).

This would accomplish one thing: to stop them dead in their tracks. They would have no means of communicating with their fellow terrorists aside from carrier pigeon and carried paper transmissions. Needless to say, I would leave the bullet stopping power development to someone else. These are just some of my thoughts on the matter, as I could very easily take up more than what I've typed thus-far. However, in the interest of time, I have more ASIC design work to take care of.

Just wanna say that Slasdot rocks! You guys kept the news flowing when nobody else could handle the load. Every other news site that I frequent throughout the day was either not responding or so sluggish that it made no sense to try.

ALSO: While most other news stations were reporting bad news, the news and information that Slashdot has been passing along was the most accurate. Once again! You guys ROCK!

  4. Re:Bullshit. on Brazil Breaks Patent to Make AIDS Drug · · Score: 1

Ignorance may be no answer to the AIDS problems abound in every nation on our fragile planet. There is also no reason for the drug companies to be bullying a nation into purchasing drugs that are developed to make human life better and more bearable. When the drug companies start advertising their drugs, they pay lots of money which, in turn, get passed along to us, the consumer. This is the ROOT cause of the incredibly high prices that we pay in the U.S.. Precisely why the elderly that live near the border of U.S. and Canada drive over the border to buy their medications. The drug companies price gouge the consumer in order to fatten their wallets. The root cause of the worlds problems is selfishness. If Roch had decided to agree to Brazil's price, there would be no problem at the moment. Roch decided to think more about the bottom line and money itself BEFORE they thought about the basic right to life. Poor them. They missed a GREAT philanthropic opportunity here, and they will most likely suffer for it.

  5. Re:Well... on Student Suspended For Taking Teacher's Challenge · · Score: 2

Integrity? That's not taught these days in schools! And besides, what if the students actually founf out about integrity, cracked the code for that, and blamed it on the school? They'd prolly get arrested for that too. This case just proves that no matter what anyone says, the schools are not educating the students properly. This student should not have been in that class. He shoudl have been in the equivalent "honors" section of his computer curriculum. The kid chose to do it because he was obviously bored with everything else that was being taught and needed a challeng. This is the exact thing that happens when somebody wants to challenge themselves, they get in trouble for it. The authorities shoudl leave the kid alone and reprimand the teacher for not knowing better. The security company should be offering this little kid a job so he can fix their buggy software, with obvious security holes. Would I be sitting here in my office designing ASICs right out of college if I challeneged myself? Probably not, I'd be in jail or without computer priveleges for the next 10 years if I had actually payed any attention in my CS classes as an Engineering student. I, for one, and many can attest, that if I try to do something, it will get done. Things get boring real quick and I usually move on to something else that can hold my attention for a while longer than silly classes do.

  6. exchange vs sendmail...? on When Is Exchange Inappropriate For The Enterprise? · · Score: 1

The better questions is, There really needs to be a question about this? I think it to be quite clear with all of the MS viruses that are rampant throughout the emails that get sent. MS is extremely vulnerable to new viruses, and an NT server or whatever running anything MS needs to be rebooted at least once a day for it to run properly. The good bet would be to do so once an hour....but that's my opinion. I've worked in companies with UNIX and Exchange servers, the UNIX servers are very stable while the Exchange servers needed some severe help. Ask management this question, do they want to keep overhead low by having one or two people doing UNIX support, since its pretty easy, I've done a little myself, ****OR**** do they want to hire a whole new department in order to chase MS bugs, fix the NT servers, help users with Exchange...etc.? I think that answer to this is quite plainly obvious that UNIX is the answer. ....Tanks.

If the RIAA ever REALLY wanted to police the world themselves, all they would really need to do is raid one, single college campus. The same goes with other Pirated stuff....go to a college campus. The RIAA is just too incredibly lazy to do much of anything on their own and they, just like every bully on this plante, has to use scare tactics to accomplish their goals. If they were to happen to come up against a corporation larger than themselves they would surely lose, due to lack of funding and scare tactics. They, IMHO, ar ejust a bunch of overgrown sissies that can no longer function in today's society. They have proven over and over that they're nothing more than drugged-out, acid-tripping fools that can't find a better way to do things. If you want a monopoly look here. The RIAA has it. They've got control right now over the ENTIRE music industry....well...RIAA: FUCK YOU.

Ok....rationalize this for me. DRIVE-UP ATM....braille key-pad. huh? Now these folks want blind-accesible web-pages? Give me a break!! I do completely sympathize with the fact that they may be impaired and I'm not, but come on now people. This is becoming completely rediculous. Yes, it would be nice for those folks to develop some form of braille pad that could automatically pop up those neat little bumps and they could surf using some form of advanced technology, but at the moment that's years off in the future? What on earth does the ADA think they're going to get done here? It is completely ludicrous that they are suing over something as completely lame as a web page not being bling accesible...last I knew, they COULDN'T SEE THE FREAKIN' SCREEN TO BEGIN WITH. Same thing with the ATM issue....every time I pull up to the thing....I think about the same nonsense. Reality-check folks: There's always going to be something NOT to your liking...suck it up, deal with it, and grow up for Pete's sake. I'm a whole whopping 21 years old, and do you see me sue-crazy like the rest of the damned upper class schmucks who don't know what else to do with they're money other than smoke crack and shoot heroin? Fuck all of them. Grow up, and get on with it. Stop impeding the progress of one of the greatest technologically advenced nations in the world with this same old bullshit. The masses have had enough. Give it up you dumb schmucks.
