Couple of considerations have to be made regarding choice of mbox formats. Here are my thoughts:
Flat mbox file:
pros: easy to set up, accessible.
cons: subject to locking issues,
not scalable, limited to local fs
Maildir format:
pros: fast, highly scalable, good
performance, very few locking
issues, reliable
cons: limited user access to directory
Proprietary db format:
pros: transactions, scalable
cons: expensive, corrupts easily,
word of warning:
backup frequently if you are
using MSexchange.
Thanks Rob, wish you all the best. Cheers from Iceland!
Don't be silly Lord Ender, everyone knows that cat along with it's sidekick ^d are the preferred editor of champions. :)
