    Bulllllll...shit!

    I was crossing the road the other day and almost got hit by a jaguar, the driver put his foot to the floor as soon as the light turned yellow.

    It didn't seem to matter that I was completely right in front of him, I mean head on collision when he did it. I had to run and jump to get out the way.

    I was so shocked that someone would do that and he took off before I could read the license plate. If there was a camera I would have phoned the police and got him for dangerous driving. No camera, no evidence, no way to find him.

    Sure it's going to take computational power
    So why waste it on ray tracing which adds little benefit over current techniques when it could be spent on so many other things?

    There are other ways of producing global illumination which is much faster then ray tracing. It's pointless because it's like taking a step back just because we can now bute force simple scenes.

    Ray Tracing will still be slow on global illumination anyway. The more reflections you have the longer it takes, so it's not going to look as good too.

    Maybe because they charge twice as much and have a bandwidth limit in a country that has many, many ISPs giving users unlimited bandwidth. Makes sense from the ISP side, not from the consumer that can get a much better service elsewhere..

    This isn't mentioning the horrible £47.00 setup charge, the £5 overuse fines, or the fact that you get less then 400kbps upload.

    You'd have to be retarded to go with that.

    Selling "Unlimited" internet when it's not is fraud. A bank playing high risk bets with peoples savings, is also what I'd call dishonest and possibly criminal.

    Actually that's BS because it's happened before in the UK with activeX dialing up premium numbers on people's dialup internet and charging people over $3000.

    All it does is make victims who are out of money and doesn't really push people to "fix" their computers. Hey, maybe if the ISPs where the ones pushing malware on their users they could make more money! (see previous slashdot article on BT spyware).

    How exactly? I doubt ATI has the same amount of resources as Nvidia, hence why they have crappy drivers and their hardware isn't tested as extensively as Nvidia.

    The same goes for Intel and AMD. Intel has maybe 4 or 5 different research depts whereas AMD only has one. I'm calling BS on your better technology argument as both ATI and AMD have shown to wait until their competitors release something new and then they just copy the technology.
