``Planet hunting is a lot like making wine,'' said Steven Vogt of the University of California-Santa Cruz...``You have got to plant the grapes, you have got to be patient, and at some point they ripen and are ready for harvest,''
I'd argue that wine-making is possibly more complex than astronomy. You have to take into account the seasons, soil, exposure, neighboring plants. Then there's the species of grape and its history. Then you have grapes. Now you have harvest time, initial fermentation techniques, container(s), humidity and temperature of storage it each point in development. Sometimes you mix grapes. Finally, the part that makes it *more* complex, worming the correct secrets out of the handful of stubborn French guarding their methods, for each field and hillside separately it seems, down through the centuries.
I used to work with a very interesting physicist. Has a theory that fundamental particles are not composed of quarks but are merely different energy states of the same particle. He can predict the mass spectrum with the theory, lifetimes and a few other quantum numbers. But he has to publish in Italy (Nuovo something...? its been a long time) because no US publisher will touch it.
Straightforward what if? then using accepted methods: this. Physics RevD and the like usually write back polite letters saying: but it's not the accepted theory!
Unfortunately, I didn't keep the article. But the French decided to use Linux in the public gradeschools some months ago. There is a real concern here that they are behind. I see this as another step to define their role in the Internet age.
How can my real name get linked to these storages? There are exactly two instances where I enter real information into my computer. 1. Corporate email 2. Purchase over a secure connection (although the credit card number I only give out by phone) Correct me if I'm wrong: but no browser can get anything out of my email application. (Outlook, well, you never know...) What about the secure sights which claim to keep data private? There are never any ads or gifs on the order forms; but could that data get an id on me from a cookie and attach it? feeling even more paranoid than usual...
Questions should be banned. Conversation too. Everyone should be locked in the basement with 300 computing books, a box of tools and pieces of a computer. No network connection allowed: too social.

Or... Maybe he meant Santa-Cruz wine.
So after you spend 30K on a Pro-E license, and 20K on specialized workstations to run it, you're going to get excited about saving $100 on the OS?
any idea why DialPad wants to have network access...

Hidden money also helps in case you're afraid of the IRS, who are all-powerful even when in error.
It can also be protection from frivolous lawsuits. The rich get sued a lot.
