(Is it possible to "open" a Creative media player and put data onto it without having to use the Creative application?)Yes, I have the MuVo and MuVo2, and this is the way I load music on to both of them. I don't even have Creative's software installed.
Bias has been skewered pretty thoroughly by the Daily Howler.
My personal favorite was the example of "bias" - by quoting an item from a public relations newswire. You know, the kind of newswire that people *pay* to have their "news" distributed to media sources.
The Daily Howler is obviously liberal in it's slant, and quite histrionic in it's rhetoric, but is sourced well and provides an interesting interpretation of major media.
What takes place in GTA would have been unthinkable even to market to adults 20 years ago.
I'll have to disagree with this, to a point.
There was always a subculture of violent or sexy material marketed to adult/teens. Some of it is just as vile and unacceptable as GTA, some is even more so.
Really, the only new concept is mass marketing - marketing this material to a general audience (ads on TV, available in department store).
The US Constitution does not state that all men are created equal. That's the Declaration of
Independence, and the Declaration does not hold legal weight in US Law.
A lot of spam I receive are from "legitimate" email marketers - i.e. not "make money fast", but trying to sell/resell real products or services. These are the type that put in these CGI image sources.
Case in point: I got one from "BankOne" which didn't contain any links to a BankOne website, but to a site on the domain of "pm0.com". This kindly email also contained a web bug whose image source was a tagged CGI link.
It was offensive enough to make me call BankOne and tell them to put me on their "do not call" and "do no email" lists.
I'd better go read the article, but most technology/medical reporting in most media forms are simply re-edited public relations news releases, repackaged as "news". I've even heard PR news releases on NPR.
There's no lack of experts for news makers to use as resources, but there is certainly a lack of *unbiased* experts.
The Lost Boys was very frustrating, in that every character that wasn't a Mormon had severe character flaws, or just plain evil.
I haven't read one of his books since, because I know that the enjoyment will be sucked out of reading it. I'll wind up looking for pro-Mormon messages in the text.
Given it's remote location and the amounts of equipment, it may have actually been more expensive to move some of this equipment out.
That might be why the dishes and infrastructure
remained, but the rest of the equipment was gone.
It's more of a shame that the forest service didn't try harder to find uses for it. *I* would have paid to explore that facility, even if it was mostly empty.
Well, the company can't get sued for encouraging a hostile workplace with pictures of Brazil being displayed.
The point being that wasted time wastes the company's money, but they have a simple mechanism for handling that. (Performance reviews, verbal warnings, etc...) Sexually explicit material also exposes the business to sexual harrassment lawsuit, which cost a lot more than an employee's wasted time.
These censorware attempts are a way for a company to prevent the most expensive abuses, not to prevent all of them.
That post would be more compelling if the original article detailing the Peter Principle wasn't a parody, a work of humor. It's a modern-day "Modest Proposal."
Yikes, I guess this was a flame. Bad Karma! Bad Karma!
Marc Adreesen's "homepage" at Netscape was a color-tinted picture of himself, I suggested that a multi-millionaire could at least *hire* someone to build a decent page.
Mirsky had a disturbed, diffident style of humor that always appealed to me. One of the best humorists I've ever seen on the Web.
Does this mean Mirsky's actually making a living on the web again?
I seem to remember that, in Ultima II or III, you could kill Lord British if you could capture a ship and fire a cannon at him.
Unfortunately, if you left the town and re-entered, he was right back on his throne....

On a regular computer, if you had a pre-generated list of solutions, all prepared beforehand for processing, wouldn't a standard PC be able to evaluate this same problem in a week?
How long does it take to generate the solutions?
What happens if you change the data?
Currently, the only known way to guarantee the best solution is to generate all possible solutions, which is why it's so hard. Your suggestion doesn't improve the performance of the algorithm.

I followed some of the links on the that page. It would seem that the Kodak DC220 and up have a RTOS that can run applications other than the primary camera functions.
The FlashPoint website: http://www.flashpoint.com talks about "Digita" - the RTOS inside the Kodak cameras. It looks like it can do some nifty things.
It doesn't *seem* to be a hoax, but I've never looked at MAME code before, and I don't know the features of the "Digita" operating system.

I would personally recommend anything by Franz Kafka. That would prepare you for dealing with management.
"Neither a borrower nor a lender be."
This is from Hamlet, spoken by an old fool.

It seems that Batmanuel and Captain Liberty are a little more romantically inclined than their cartoon counterparts. Why did you make that decision?

I am in the minority in my office, where my child is in daycare, most other *men* with families have wives who stay home.
This is a choice that both they and I have made.

There, I just admitted to cheating in DOOM2.
