But if you count the good and the bad that science brings us, we're unquestionably much better off because of science. You can't say the same for religion. Excuse me? How exactly does one go about quantifying abstract concepts like good and bad? What is the exact ratio of good to bad, and which units are you using?
IMHO, religion has been much better for humanity than science. But that's just an opinion, not "unquestionable" fact.
That he isn't showing up at a university for some sort of glorified photo op where he gets to pretend he's cozy with science is hardly some vast attempt to silence him. The problem isn't that the Pope is being silenced; the problem is that he was invited to speak at a university but now he can't because some of the faculty and students are being assho--excuse me, intolerant.
Hmm..free phone with no privacy? I'll take it. And when I want to sell state secrets, I'll just buy a new phone. Until then, I don't really care if google knows I'll be late to some party or that I'm meeting up with Bobby later.

The article complains about facebook's business model, but it seems to me that they've found a better way to make money than ads--take it from M$.
Or, they could compete for it themselves--and win both fame and fortune, from a rival, to boot.
