At least the ATT plan looks cheaper than Verizon though, because if you're single you pay $40 a month. Verizon makes single persons pay the full $90 as if you were a full family.:-o
Uh, a single person on ATT's shared plan pays $95 for their phone and 1gb of data. Verizon charges $90 on their Share Everything plan for the same service level.
I think what RMS is saying is that all music should be distributed with a license disclosing what can and can not be done with it. It would only add 20-25 minutes to each song to read out the music distribution license that would be required on every song.
The Gnu Public Music license would require that it be copied along with the song, and that any derivative work distributed to anyone also bear the 25 minute GPM license. Also, all the tracks required to remix the music must be made available to anyone the song is distributed to. Any remixes distributed must also bear the GPM license. And no patented technologies can be used to make the music.
I was looking at the stories on TUAW about this a few days ago when the dropping out of EPEAT was announced, and it amused me greatly that the vast majority of commentors were coming out about the futility of recycling and how forward thinking Apple was to ditch overblown environmental concerns in favor of design.
The only difference between Apple and Microsoft is that Microsoft software is so much more widely used that a monopoly charge could be brought against them. Apple is much worse than MS in that they not only dictate what can be done with their software, they also dictate what hardware is allowed to be used with their computers. It's like MS on evil steroids. Thank God Apple computers cost so much that no one buys them. We'd be in a world of hurt if Apple ever had the influence that MS pulls.
I think the old tablets failed mostly because of their bulk, because of their battery life, and because the OS they were running wasn't designed with pen or touch interface in mind. All three of these things are mitigated in the Surface.
So what you are saying is maybe 10% of users have a use for all that power that modern PC's have and the rest basically need a dumb terminal from 1997 that can run the internet browser of their choice and office application?
Nah, it's fewer than that. 10% of users think they have a use for all that power. Most of that 10% don't need anywhere near that, or have to make up uses for it (mining bitcoins, running SETI blocks, folding @home, amateurish 3d rendering, etc).
It's sad that in America if your goal is anything other than getting fabulously weatlhy, your motives are instantly questioned and you're labelled a scammer.
Mujahadeen != Al Quaeda, you racist pig.

Tell it again.
Nope. He's just bitching about Linux being popular.
FYI, Wyoming is the definition of piss ant.
Do you not have referees in Australia?

It's IBM's fault that their customers didn't have a DR plan?
I wish that was more of the truth and the metro interface would disappear on the desktop!
Yeah, me too! I hate everything new, especially things I've never used.

Very quickly, I'd hope.
He didn't "come back to life" so much as he was kicked out of the afterlife for being such a humorless bore.

The price has alway been $199 for the 8Gb and $249 for the 16Gb from the day they were announced at Google IO.
Ah yes 2005, when you could still get unlimited Internet.
...at 128kbps.
Methinks you're creating a strawman here. Can we argue about reality, not made up hypothetical situations?
That's not what the article says, did you read it? No?! I'm stunned!
You just can't "un know" and "un see" things.
I wish you'd said this to me before I discovered 4Chan/b...
I would agree. But these are not mandatory filters. RTFA.
Since this device is based on the Tegra 3 SoC, I doubt it will be much of a departure from the Tegra 3 dev kits, making the hardware design a cinch.

Nobody hates you for being a non-believer. That's something you made up in your head right there. Let go of your anger.
