In Australia in the '70's and '80s we had a brilliant, albeit low budget, science education show TheCuriosityShow. It was similar to MythBusters but concentrated more on simple demonstrable scientific prinicples rather than "wow, coke cleans nickels". This show piqued my attention towards learning more about "science"
