quake is still alive and well, especially quakeworld. you can get started at www.nquake.com which includes ezquake (though there are many clients to choose from now). quake champions is a newer alternative, but certainly doesn't have the same feel or gameplay. everyone is still hanging out on irc and discord (discord.quake.world)
try snooping on my sparcstation classic running netbsd, i dare you. but ignore my crt please (http://www.newscientist.com/blog/technology/2007/04/seeing-through-walls.html)
Especially considering that the firmware is loaded via a driver whenever the camera is activated (like many wireless chipsets), is this really news to anybody?
There are no guarantees, but I'm much more concerned with what Microsoft/Oracle/Cisco does than what Redhat, Ubuntu, or OpenBSD throws into their builds/source.
I have two of them, you get pretty good at 're-levitating' it after a while being that every time someone bumps into your desk it stops, definitely worth the trouble though. I do wonder why a van de graaf generator was left off the list though:-)
Chromium is a good hand-eye game, you directly control a space-ship using the mouse. Reminds me of crystal quest on the mac, I still have an LC hooked up for that purpose.
hundred bucks says it was a serverworks motherboard and it was crashing because of an nfs mount- we had the same problem with ibm hardware. disabling hyperthreading probably would have fixed it.
This man obviously doesn't realize that the only reason there are more "bugs" within most nix systems is because there is more run, and/or to run on them. Not only this but they are meant for people who know what they are doing with them. Not those that are too lazy to read documentation and are used to just "running the install and firing it up". Every once in a while, don't you just want to speed up evolution and kill the morons? I think Darwin would be proud.
I happen to run a free-speech messageboard at http://www.rapedangel.net. If the allegations at hand were to stick, small sites like mine would be open to similar fate. I hope that you guys at andover/slashdot follow through on rebelling against any censorship campaign, especially Microsoft's.
I wrote a ranting version of this post yesterday but didn't post it as I realized that not only would most not understand it, but would resent it as well. The point I was trying to get across is that just about every peice of software that is internet related sends some kind of information to the creator, whether it be for the purpose of marketing (yes, they sell your information, and sometimes it's quite personal) or for bug-trapping. And has everyone forgotten that this is pre-release software that was designed to get out bugs in the gameplay and ogl code? I for one knew that q3 was going to be sending some type of helpful information back to id, and if you didn't know this from software experience it should have clued you in when you contacted id's master everytime you connected to a game. If you don't want to help make the game better then don't download pre-release software with that intent, these releases weren't meant for true gameplay.

why is the dec logo being used for everything 'digital' now, did i miss something?
The first thing I do when setting up a new box is to turn that useless key into the control key it should be.

this is essentially what (http://nixos.org/) or (http://www.gobolinux.org/) do, though the former has much grander goals.

Placebos never work, by definition.
"Something of no intrinsic remedial value that is used to appease or reassure another."
as did i (sparcstation 5)... :-( good thing upgrading is easy.
and yes, you shouldn't have any difficulties.
remember when they outlawed quake? well we all know why... hitler played a lot of id games growing up - they don't want that to happen again.
very interesting... here's a mirror:

i hope they didn't remove drivers from the kernel.... again.

Eat me... really-
