    No, in 2010 (the book,not the movie) the Chinese did land on Europa and were killed by a light seeking tentacle thing.

    I just finished reading 3001. Very disappointing,
    I didn't like 2061 much either. 2010 is one of
    those rare cases where the movie is better than
    the book IMHO.

    I'm building a PC that will be wired into my TV and sterio to be my decicated DVD/DivX/VCD/MP3/etc. player. Couldn't someone make a card to provide Firewire output for the DVD-ROM (assuming that it doesn't exist yet).
    It shouldn't be too hard since the data is extracted digitaly to start with.

    Raite makes a DVD player that also plays VCDs, MP3 CDs, audio CDs and more, it's
    model AV715. It can read CD-R and CD-RW
    media too.

    When playing MP3's, it can show
    the lyrics on the TV set(if you burned a
    lyrics file onto the CD)

    Pine is coming out with a portable CD player that
    will also play CD-R and CD-RW that have MP3s on them. You can check their www site at http://www.pineusa.com/.

    They will have it at comdex also.

    Also, Raite makes the AV715. It's a standalone
    DVD player that also plays VCDs, music CDs
    and MP3s (on CD-R or CD-RW) and some other
