just because you don't see any potential applications it doesn't mean it's "utterly stupid". Line of sight is not so difficult if all I want is to stream from my laptop to the tv to watch a HD movie with some friends.
ok not any jokes, but if someone's mother dies from cancer you don't go and say to the person "It's a lot harder when it's your mom" and laugh out loud because you just said a joke do you?
Programming is becoming nothing more than cutting and pasting, especially with languages like java, that provide libraries that do "the hard stuff" and let programmers concentrate on "programming".
Is this bad? I thought re-usability was a good thing. And that's the point of OO languages.
People are getting old. Things change. Programming has evolved into something else. IF ever quantum computing makes it, programming will become something else again, because it would be entirely new way of thinking (for programmers).
If I want to do some hacking I could still do it. But if for example I'm going to implement a genetic algorithm from scratch just because I don't want to use a library that's ridiculous.
Sometimes the patient might want to stop, because they feel they are causing you trouble and wasting your money (i.e. the patient is your mother or father or husband).
You however must show them you love them and keep on trying. This will make it worth in the end.
It would really be funny if the developers planted a message when listening to standard fax negotiation tones:
Hey, how are you?
Not much going on. This new "Exchange Server" is such an asshole I wish he dies!
Yeah I know what you're sayin.. I think they're gonna throw me away soon:(
Oh well...here's the fax anyway. Hope to hear from you soon..Bye!

From my HCI course I remember that consistency is important. Changing the position of the window control buttons is not consistent and users don't like it. We get used to one thing and then they decide to change it. Damn.
And as others have pointed out, this is going to cause a lot of mis-clicks.
people like you are very narrow minded. you use words like the project is doomed, why would you want to do this in the first place etc... He knows why he wants to do it in the first place. That's not the point. He tried for some help that maybe will save him some time. But if he doesn't find it then he can go on and do some research on his own and spend some more time on it.
Exactly. I hate people when they accuse others for being stupid when they have no idea what the real purpose of the project is. Who knows? ok not a time machine, but it could be something completely different from what someone thinks and quite interesting all together.
no the pseudonym will not reveal my real name, but at least someone can go through the history of my comments and get an idea of what kind of comments i leave here.
and yes there are people who are experts in their fields, and remember there are more than 1 million users here. So there will be most likely at least a bunch of experts for each topic. Although the armchair experts are not missing, but you have to learn how to filter those out (for one check their comment history?).
As annoying as these are, a reasonable combination of browser and security suite, and some common sense, are enough to stop this from getting to be much more than that.
I was thinking about how we may solve this problem and came up with prediction methods:
So imagine you bend to pick up a rock. Instead of waiting for the video to come, you may predict what the video will look like after you bend...Then you may as well do corrections as the video stream comes in.
Ofcourse there are still limitations, but I believe we can always do improvements until some point it will actually be feasible to control humanoids even on Mars. This is great!
It just happened to me a few times to pick up the phone to dial a friend, and my friend is on the other side of the line before I even dial. He tells me wtf it didn't even ring once and you picked it up?
weather or not they care
So if the weather is good or not they still care? I don't understand...What if it's sunny?

Ok this is
wtf modded this flamebait? I'm starting to loose the sense of the word flamebait.
where a "prank" is usually going to redirect you to some kind of screaming monster or a gaping anus, the rickroll is remarkably unonfensive.
what is this "gaping anus" you are talking about?
Ha! I didn't know others were using voice like me, Beware the jug jug bed.
ok not any jokes, but if someone's mother dies from cancer you don't go and say to the person "It's a lot harder when it's your mom" and laugh out loud because you just said a joke do you?
yes, but GP was talking about cancer. Is any joke appropriate?

Listen, the point is that the patient will want to stop because they are causing you trouble and waste your money.
Your reaction should be not to stop and keep on trying to show them you love them. In the end that's the only thing that will remain.
Life is more than money.
Sometimes the patient might want to stop, because they feel they are causing you trouble and wasting your money (i.e. the patient is your mother or father or husband).
You however must show them you love them and keep on trying. This will make it worth in the end.
so from all this you picked the last sentence to make a joke. How old are you, 10?

My first thought too: "You gotta to be kidding me. This is mac-osx."
And I don't see how this colour makes it look pro now. An artistic background would be much better.
Also this guy just summed it up for /.

you are wrong

which takes existing recordings of musicians (deceased, for now)
Well of course they are deceased for now. Once they hear wtf is going on they will come back to kill us all!

WTF dude? how long does it take you to type the rest of the logical statement?
unless you are considering limited processing power and you want to avoid extra checks. And I don't think this is the case here.
As annoying as these are, a reasonable combination of browser and security suite, and some common sense, are enough to stop this from getting to be much more than that.
Please shut up. The world is not techie.

I agree with your theory...
