Or rather, old applications hardcoded with AF_INET sockets need to be rewritten to use the AF-agnostic POSIX APIs - if you use getaddrinfo(), you generally don't need to care about the AF. Of course, there's some cross platform complications, but isn't there always...

    D-Link does one better.

Not only does the DES-1228 (cheap web-managed switch) web interface not function properly with Firefox 3.0 (e.g. the VLAN settings), the switch will outright crash (i.e. stop switching traffic, even after a reboot) if configured using FF3.0 instead of, say, FF1.5 (which works fine).

We even ended up sending one back for a warranty replacement when it stopped working after one reset too many (thankfully the warranty service program is good).

I have the HTML version accessible on a 100Mbit server as well, but I'm somewhat hesitant to link to it due to the legal risk (although I've always wanted to know what a slashdotting feels like). The content probably isn't under any risk of copyright issues, but the material therein is doubtlessly covered by all kinds of NDAs, confidentiality agreements and so forth.

But some highlights that I've picked up:
msg03169.html - Email conversation between MediaDefender and the New York State Office of the Attorney General on providing the latter party with a database of keyword-matching media served up from p2p hosts in the New York State
msg01444.html - Login details for the "temporary miivi replacement" madliq.com at networksolutions.com
    msg02281.html - Wikipedia censorship
msg03039.html - Response to MiiVi.com stuff, shutdown -h on the server, redirect to random IP, etc
msg01439.html - "Want to keep the confidence of the troops. Truth is I don't give a crap about most of this shit"
msg01017.html - Handling emails from MiiVi users - "I don't want MediaDefender anywhere in your email replies to people contacting Miivi ... Make sure MediaDefender can not be seen in any of the hidden email data crap that smart people can look in"
msg00561.html - Encryption source code, store key in first four bytes and then some bitshifting/anding/magic constants to mangle the key and xor each byte of data
msg03962.html - Stefan, their cryptology expert, writing his own "https socket" so as to hide the protocol data, but then realizing that "SSL won't be useful for hiding the protocol because the decrypted data would be visible through the browser".
msg00734.html - SEO for miivi.com, "We need to get as much search traffic as we can"

The eathlink.net is from the helo, which might be typed out by hand and not actually validated for anything. Plus, there's evidence that it's valid. He states that the email that he received was in reply to an email he sent them. If he means that they quoted his email, that means something. Secondly, The Jem Report contacted the radio station on the matter, and received a verbose reply (in the article: "The full text of the message follows:").

    But can it run Linux...?

Based on the table at the bottom of this page, dubious. Only real mode (e.g. DOS) is supported properly, the protected mode that any modern OS uses is in "beta" for interpreted stage, and compiled mode is "currently less mature". The cited 10% performance figure is for compiled real mode, and I'm willing to bet that interpreted protected mode would be somewhat slower.

Also, it doesn't say anything about supporting real graphics (8-bit VGA isn't everything), and something like USB or a CD drive would also be pleasant. What's the performance of the file-based-filesystem it uses?

If you read the copyright notice and the terms of contract (the bits at the end are the best), you'll understand why she doesn't use robots.txt -- she's psycho. You agree to waive rights of fair use, and in the case of copyright infringement, all of your assets (personal property, land, farm products, bank accounts, etc) are hers. Commercial/financial gain is defined as using content from the site in court "in any manner which is inconsistent with promoting the fundamental human right to family association". Is she going to sue me now for quoting that bit?
