  1. EA is the whore of the video game industry. on EA - Wii Caught Us By Surprise · · Score: 1

EA's business philosophy is to create linear manufactured cookie cutter games that can be pumped out to the largest demographic in order to maximize profits. Regardless of the fact EA is one of the largest game companies they are also among the lowest quality of game companies. Them backing the "wrong horse" translates into them not making slightly more money and has nothing to do with making a better game. EA has diluted the gaming market with crap and in my opinion I'd back whichever console that monopoly wasn't focusing on. History has proven EA to be a back stabbing company time after time any way so why support them? They don't believe in building good business relations, instead they follow whoever they think will make them the extra dollar. If it wasn't for the Sega Genesis EA wouldn't be what they are today, but years later EA would end up putting strangleholds on the Dreamcast that contributed to Segas downfall. Sony will never see a downfall any where close to Segas but I feel EA is doing the same thing here. Sony helped push EAs product to the most masses over the last 10 years but that doesn't matter any more because a few extra bucks can be made elsewhere.

Why do you deserve a "2" rating for your mindless comment while my legitimate question remains at a "1"? I'm fairly new to being a user on slashdot but am slowly realizing this community is just as flawed as the rest, such as digg and other websites that post news and let every brainless moron and their mother post directionless crap as much as they want. While I agree this feature should already be available for the PS3 I don't think it's enough of a reason to boycott the system, along with the rest of the out-of-control complaints toward Sony's new system. The reason I posted it was to bring it into light. So instead of being dull and big-headed why not help me push the question so Sony spots the demand and will fix it sooner rather than later.

  4. Partnership with Apple on Ask Sony's Phil Harrison About PS3 and Games · · Score: 1

I've always thought that a Sony & Apple partnership would be great and beneficial for both companies. Apple is already a major Blu-ray supporter and there are many more technologies the two companies have that would benefit each other. The two also have similar competitors such as Microsoft. Windows users may be more willing to buy a Xbox while OS X/Linux users may be more willing to buy a PS3. Sony could offer some major music deals to Apple and Apple could offer their software like a PS3 version of OS X, etc. They could continuously cross promote/advertise each other to build a stronger reputation and consumer base. Have these companies ever considered this?

I don't believe that the Wii is introducing more brand new video gamers than any other system has or will it ever. A 60 year old grandparent may have fun playing a simple bowling game but they aren't going to buy it. What has happened with the Wii is that Nintendo has regained trust in old ex-Nintendo gamers (NES & SNES era) which are now in the 21-35 age range that video games sell so well to and on top of that they still appeal to their key crowd of non-adult (under 18) gamers. With this said I believe that the original Xbox and the Xbox 360 have brought over more never before video gamers (different than computer gamers) than any system since the original PlayStation, but probably not as many as the PSX. PSX was the first true diverse gaming machine that transformed video games from a kids activity into one that transcended many different demographics and that's why Sony pushed so many consoles with PSX & PS2 and will probably end up repeating this success with the PS3 in the long run. Microsoft has brought over computer gamers with their Xbox which is a realistic market to capture, unlike going after peoples grandparents. Personally I don't like Microsoft's involvement in video games and that reason alone I'll always stay away from Xbox. Video games just simply should be Nintendo, Sony and Sega's (in spirit) stomping ground. All sorts of genres are shifting in popularity now that computer gamers are playing video games and the rest of us have to hold back our tears as the once grand RPG genre is slowly dying away along with other "intelligent" games and linear genres like shooters (Halo, Gears of War, etc) which never were crucial to video games in the past are now snowballing in popularity. But see this doesn't matter for Microsoft which has brought over their own brand of gamers that have lived and breathed MS through computers in the years of yore so they'll buy into the Xbox brand regardless of the path MS lays. PS3 is worth $600 hands down, no question. If you can't afford it then you can't afford it, this doesn't make it a bad system. PS3 is still a spectacular gaming machine and still has the most exclusives. Just because they lost a few games doesn't mean they lost them all. And those exclusive on the 360 will likely eventually find their way onto a PC. And my feelings about the Wii are that it's a great toy but no video game machine. You should buy a Wii for another activity that you can do in your living room with your TV but it's no replacement for a video game machine. Wii owners that are swearing only buy their one video game console purchase are going to hit reality in a year from now when they're playing shuffleboard for Wii Sports 2 during a family reunion. Xbox 360 owners that computer gamers converted over will stay with MS until the end, the rest will realize the benefits of the PS3 in future years when games in size of upwards to 50gb hit the PS3 or simply games that need the ever expanding Blu-ray technology for storage will become Sony exclusive because their developers just can't create their grand vision on any thing else. They're all great systems in the their own respect but there are too many people that accept lies and denying truth about each machine.

  6. SixAxis, Rumble & Early Adopters on Ask Sony's Phil Harrison About PS3 and Games · · Score: 1

When can we expect the rumble enabled SixAxis controller? And for use early adopters that have many original SixAxis controllers will there be a way for us to trade them in for an exchange? Maybe down the lines of we mail you our SixAxis and for a minor labor fee you install the internal rumble motors.
