  1. good thing // bad thing on City of Heroes Sr. Designer Talks Architect System · · Score: 1

When AE went live, it was really crazy and the AE buildings where completely filled with peoples, to the point that entire game zones felt empty. Some peoples were creating missions for the sole purpose of farming, with buff bots following you, preventing the player from taking damage so a group could deal with massive amounts of boss at the same time, yielding enormous amounts of XP. Hell some people went from 0 to 50 without leaving the AE building... and when they were out doing regular missions, did they suck. As soon as there were none of the bubble bots around, they had no tactics and were really poor players... As time passed, those missions starting being removed from the system and gradually lost popularity to the "real missions", with proper story arcs that players spend hours developping testing etc... The best are indeed very good missions, on par with some of the best story arcs of the game... so is AE good, yes. as long as you use it for what it was intended to be. A tool to provide more ontent to the players, not a tool to powerlevel ! And needless to say, the ability to create entirely custom enemy groups is really cool ! CoH ftw !!

Waouh, don't you think you are pushing generalization a bit too much here ? "Culture Minister" are not elected by the French, but chosen by the executive... so how do you connect the fact that he allegedly buggered young Thai boys and the fact that France is a pathetic country ? Do you believe everyone in France fully agrees with this type of behaviours ? I can't imagine you are that naive... or maybe you just like being a troll...

CoH was supposed to be based on Champions ? can you back this one ? Anyhow, from what I've seen so far of champions during the Closed and Open Beta, I'll stick with CoH ! And where did you see that the interface of CoH was fixed ? you can pretty much put on screen whatever you want and create as many powerbars you need ? and with binds and macros you can combine emotes with powers or chat... what else would you want ?

I Love CoX... much better gameplay and mature community than many other MMORPG (at least on the european servers). I also appreciate much the fact that my subscription fee goes to pay new issues that are regularly made available to me without additional charges (14 issues released with a lot of additional content to the game in 5 years and counting...) Way to go NCSoft, I wish you did not suck so much at advertising that game...

Stop the flame war here folks: you are just falling over and over again into this one...

There is no point in re-writing and distorting history either way... put an end to this French bashing that does not do them justice (yes: they held their ground fine in WWI and yes: they are grateful for our intervention in WWII after their defeat in 1940)

By the way, those interested in reading a french point of view on the defeat of 1940 should read Saint-Exupéry : Pilote de Guerre... where the author of Le Petit Prince while describing his combat missions in May 1940 also gives his feelings on why the defeat is inexcusable yet unavoidable at this stage.

    >> better is worse if it's different For the vast majority of people who really don't want to spend time learning a new UI, it is true, but some UI are so intelligently designed that the commands are right where you expect them to be. I change of UI from time to time for the sake of fun, but I keep coming back to the cleanliness of the WindowMaker... That said, I believe that I feel like natural might be considered unnatural by someone else... the beauty of Linux (and other *nix for that matter) is the fact that you can switch UI at will... I'd say this makes it ideally suited for the desktop because you can just pick whatever UI you want. (okay, this is not a valid argument for corporations...)

I am not going to comment on the rest of your post (others have already replied), but this "We've liberated the French two times" thing has got to be corrected. While it is an undisputed fact that France would never have been freed from the Nazis without the intervention of the US during WWII, the role the US played in WWI is much smaller... the US only entered the war in 1917, and did not send enough troops to achieve anything the Brits and the French (and the other allies) would not have been able to achieve (albeit at a greater human cost for their side, and with more time). The US contributed to the victory of the Allies in WWI, but certainly did not liberate France !!
