I was just wondering if anyone knew if linux supported the ata/66 mode with the via686a chipset on some of the athlon motherboards? I have mine running at ata/33 and would like to switch it over to the ata/66
I have a K7 500 with the FIC SD-11 motherboard running redhat 6.1. I compiled the 2.3.25 dev series kernel on it. But I didn't have any probs using the default kernel provided with redhat. I had no probs installing either. This chip was well worth the wait.
I don't think you will be able to find a smp capable motherboard for the k7 till Q4 at least. Motherboards for the k7 are going to be hard enough to come by. I'd love to get a k7-500 and a dual MB and save for the 2nd k7. I don't think thats gonna happen. I read somewhere that you won;t be seeing dual k7 MBs till late November/December. Sucks.
I read somewhere that IDT is letting the x86 part of their company go off on its own. So it will no longer be an IDT winchip, but rather and Centaur Winchip XXX.

"...here's too much news today! IDT posted some really good quarterly numbers but spontaneously decided to give up on x86 and make Centaur (the x86 wing of IDT) total autonomy. It is now the Centaur WinChip 4..."
he later reports that IDT has a buyer for their x86 division.

I just got my celeron 366s in today and I have the bp6. The only thing I've gotten to work with the hpt66 controller is win98:|
I was just wondering how many people out there have had sucess o/c their celerons 366s to 550 ppga only. I ordered them with the abit bp6 and would love to have them run at 550.
I read somewhere that Intel was going to start producing the pentium !!! in the ppga style.

I will be trying it out tommorow hopefully. I have already received my Abit bp6 and I'm just waiting for my celerons to be delivered. Their sitting in a ups station 20 mins from my house, but yet I can't get them till monday *sigh*
I have been to the umich site the wtfo.com site the german site and the japanese site. All of them have starbuck dirs but lack anything in the RPMS directory under i386/RedHat/
Anyone find a full mirror site or is this gonna be like the release of 5.2, closed dirs all over the place ?
