Traffic laws are there for a reason: to save lives.

Except for the National Maximum Speed Law in the United States, which prohibited speed limits higher than 55 mph to save gas.

Or the infamous small town speed traps, which are there to raise revenue.

Yeah, except for those and many others, traffic laws are there to save lives.

ze is not a word. Use of he to refer to a person of unknown gender was prescribed by manuals of style and school textbooks from the early 19th century until around the 1960s. You could argue it's archaic, but using he as a general neutral pronoun is perfectly acceptable.

well, basically, if we don't come out of the closet about being women.

When women-bashing becomes as recognized a term as gay bashing, you can use that metaphor.

Most of the "dedicated' GPS units on the market actually have bluetooth which technically turns them into proxy mobile phones. So aren't they really saying that almost all GPS units are now illegal?

Seriously? This is insightful? A bluetooth GPS could be used as a remote speaker and microphone for a phone. The law would prohibit this act, not the device itself.

Make the government liable for up to $500000 (and peg the amount to the consumer price index) in legal costs for anybody who sucessfully defends a patent on the grounds of prior art or obviousness. Right, because no one would ever defraud the government. If such a thing passed, I'd ask a friend to sue; run up some huge bogus legal bills; and split the $500k check from the government with my friend.

Wait. Just because I asked if I knew the candidates' positions, I'm now in the top 15th percentile for intelligence. Cool!

It's a pretty cool idea... anyone know if some exotic hardware with these kinds of capabilities has ever been tried?

No, but an emulator (like Nesticle) could be easily modified to do it.
