Your comment is spot on, i could not agree with you more
Linux and GNU software in general has not respect and care for legacy related issues............
Windows on the other end struggles and puts a lot of effort to make sure that all the software written is forward compatible with windows........
They in fact emulate bugs!!! to make sure that programs that rely on these bugs work as intended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bit ironical, but that is the extent they are willing to go for legacy support
You need to upgrade you Computer with a faster processor especially a faster GPU
I Do acknowledge one thing
The scroll feature of OO is broken and it will be fixed..........
It's slow, buggy and just as bloated as Office is -- if not more so.
Let me tell Office productivity suits are one piece of software which is meant to bloated...............
why surely because of the vast spectrum of people using it
just think about it
even a 10 year kid uses it
even 60 year old grand pa uses it
even 25 year old Ph.d student uses it
It has to support all these peoples need with only one package
this naturally needs to what you call bloating and about the slowness issue
it's unfair to compare openoffice to MS office
because all the runtime requirements for office is usually preloaded by the os
and MS office runs only on 1 platform, openoffice runs on Windows Mac linux BSD solaris you name it, it's freakin impossible to achieve run time optimization and be yet so portable
and the slowness is only with respect to start up time and nothing else
Let's Look what innovation have they contributed to the industry
DOS
Well it's not their creation it's some other companies innovation and MS purchased that product and company
Initially it was called QDOS ( QUICK and DIRTY operating system )
They renamed it as MS DOS ( Microsoft Disk Operating System )
GUI for windows
Everybody knows that they unabashedly stole it from apple.NET
Mockingly similar to java
Silverlight
Mocks Flash from adobe
UAC
Mocks probably sudo and user privileges
THe only innovation they have shown is in
1) MARKETING
2) Vendor Lock IN
3) Monopoly
Bull shit
Adobe should just file an anit trust case against microsoft if 1) They start to ship silverlight with windows in built 2) They give it away with Visual Studio for free 3) They Bundle it with IE
Adobe should rise to occasion and save the world
cause some time later they will close source and some time later they will make it windows only this could be damaging to linux user as they will not be able to access the media, nobody should render any support to microsoft regarding this............ I'ts insidiously dangerous
Microsoft is the satan for linux We should fight our crusades(jehad if your a muslim!!! ) against this
But i am really feeling it in my butt
damn those redmond people
hang those redmond people
kill the Bill Gates he worse than Osama bin laden
he is worse than Saddam hussein
Bill gates the new Terrorist
Firstly attack MS by
1) Filing an anti trust case against them, on the basis that their product ASP.net and Visual Studio, only encourages the use of IE and other browsers and hence the growth of other browsers is stifled
2) Avoid packaging the IE in windows ( anti trust case again )
3) IE is not standard complaint and recommend the w3c to deem IE not to be a web browser at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Disclaimer: I am not a LAWYER and certainly don't know anything much about law
but i think US law can come our rescue
Well i am from india and have internet connection and to check our usage we had to login to website and this freakin website forced us to have IE( even changing the User agent field doesn't help ) for 2 years we had to use IE for our account usage and a lot of our users wrote a letter or complained regarding this idiosyncracy and the problem was fixed and we can use FFx or any freakin browser we want...........
Moral of the story
1) The users can persuade or arm twist the erring person/company to make the change
2) It is always possible to make any web site compatible across browsers but take a little more effort to do so
