I do not work with bash since I cannot do this stuff on the gui / whatever.
I work with bash because it's much faster/easier/comfortable/more powerful then the gui.
Now, after 3.5 Linux years, I don't know how I've used Windows before, Shell is one of the best Linux advantages, why we as linux users would want to denial of using it. (and no, power-shell or cygwin are not even 1% of Linux's shell potential).
Think about it, you sell a product with the price of : X
It actually costs you the price which is : Y
So x-y = revenue. Simple, right?
Lets say now, revenue for every laptop = 0.1$, only. --> also, lets say 1,000,000,000 (1 billion) of people will buy the product like expected (I'd say more then 1 billion for laptop in 10$, but lets flow with this idea) -> pure revenue of this project is 0.1*1,000,000,000 = 100 Million $!
That's without taxes that are included and will be about the same = 100 Million $, at-least which will go directly to the government.
And other benefits : This laptop will help those people who havn't met a computer these days (there still are people like that!), it will help them educate, another benefit: This project will make lots of employment to the Indian workers --> which is the main benefit to the Indian government.
Every average house contains a hammer! If he didn't have a hammer in his house would they say the knife he eats with is also a weapon?
This school is ridiculous and this boy doesn't need to finish his school their Since he got nothing to learn from them!.
Will I be able, within simple customization use my Bash scripting in Windows powershell ?
Simple customization such as folder changing (if it's hard coded to/home/user folder, I will change it to c:\ or c:\documents and settings\user) only.
If so, and Bash scripting might actually work, it would be great for me so I won't have to suffer while I'm using Windows, well, atleast not from the powershell... BSOD's Still disturb me:)
Cause' they don't want to make it multi-platform, so developers will use.Net and develop their stuff and when they want to use it, they will be able to use Linux/whatever, and Microsoft doesn't want the developers to enjoy with their code on Linux since they want them to buy another Windows (which is legitimate to them that they want to sell. The problem is that they are doing it very ugly.)
All the so-called solutions aren't good since it's not OS-Based solutions!.
Simple things like inserting a buffer in a vanilla cyg-win to firefox will not do it : firefow www.slashdot.org & will not be opened, cause cyg-win doesn't even recognized where firefox is (/bin/.. isn't available on windows.. so where will it take it from?), it's the little things that makes solution trashi.
As long as Microsoft operating systems got nothing compared to BASH, Linux > Windows.
and no, you can't work with cmd like you work with Bash, and I'm an advanced batch scripter, Bash is just much better and much user friendlier.
There are many other things that makes Linux better then windows (any version), but I will let Microsoft answer the Bash thingy and then I will write some new problems to them why Linux is much much better:)
I'd say the chances that they will actually get 2mbps by 2009, is 1 : 9.00, which means, for every 1$ you will bet that it will happen, you'll get 9$.
But now you shall ask, what are the chances that I can open my own Internet-Betting company huh? tough world.
If Microsoft buys its own CDs, Does it count?
Otherwise, I cannot see how Vista's selling is good... in-fact, I don't know anyone who bought it already, do you?

If people were careful and more people actually know what they are doing, you would have been right, but : There's no patch to human stupidity.
