When my wife and I are away from each other we sometimes play pool on Yahoo! games. They have some other multiplayer games that are really simple to learn and pretty fun.

  2. Re:hard to make a good GUI for that... on Architecture / Home Design Software? · · Score: 1

It is hard to make a GUI for that but the people at www.sketchup.com have done a remarkable job at it.

  3. The key is knowing when your life is half over on Mass Storage Leaves Microchips in the Dust · · Score: 3, Funny

Record everything. Once your life is half over you need to cue up the recording and start watching what happened in the first half of your life. Then when that is over you drop dead.

  8. Other ODP visualization projects on 3D Computer Network Maps · · Score: 1

There are other visualizatin projects for the ODP that don't require as big a leap into a new interface and plugins.

One is http://www.webbrain.com/ which reminds me of a hyperbolic tree but is a little different in representing category information.

The other is a shameless plug for a visualization engine that I have created for the ODP that is almost ready for prime time. It doesn't really create a "map" of the ODP sites but it does show them visually as they will actually appear in your browser... it helps you quickly eliminate the wheat from the chaff when browsing the directory or search results.
