The only Tim Burton film I enjoyed based on an existing property was the original Batman. Very moody, good story, great cast. But everything after that sucked. Batman Returns was horrid, Mars Attacks! was complete drivel and, given what I've read about Burton's abortive attempt at doing a new Superman film, I'm convinced that Tim Burton just doesn't get mainstream pop culture (which Planet of the Apes definitely falls into)
